Who'd like to try out a new Dyson vacuum cleaner?

CarrieMumsnet · 04/02/2008 11:43

We've been asked by Dyson to find 20 volunteers to test out a couple of brand new vacuum cleaners. To be eligible for the trial you need to do most of your own hoovering (so maybe it's time to give the cleaner a holiday ) and be able to collect your machine from Dyson's London or Wiltshire offices and stay for a brief demo.

If you like the machine you will be free to keep it. All we ask is that you agree to give feedback on an open section of Talk (that we'll set up in a couple of weeks time) and join in an online focus group (basically an online chat) with the Dyson engineers to tell them what you really think.

We're hoping to get all our volunteers in place by the end of the week, so if you're interested please sign up here

Why ask if we can collect the dyson from London or Wiltshire office, then later list in the terms and conditions that you must be able to collect from london/Wiltshire office and stay for a demo?

Objection from those intereted that live nowhere near either location.

fullmoonfiend · 04/02/2008 11:49

ohhh London or wiltlshire
My old dyson has just died terminally and I can't afford a new one..

Nymphadora · 04/02/2008 11:49

really need a new hoover (keep breaking things and fed up of dust pan and brush )

SoupDragon · 04/02/2008 11:54

Without knowing the London address, it's impossible to say if I could pick it up!

SoupDragon · 04/02/2008 11:55

sleepdeprivationandme - I'd guess it's because that's where Dyson have offices!

CaptainCod · 04/02/2008 11:55

ME im in an im local

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2008 12:01

I have filled it in but I used a different email addy from the one in my MN registration

Is that ok or do I fill it in again?

chenin · 04/02/2008 12:37

have filled it in and am only 10-12 miles from their wiltshire office....!

CarrieMumsnet · 04/02/2008 12:47

Really sorry about the collecting thing. It's because they want to be able to demonstrate the machine so that they can ensure they're getting accurate feedback.
Shall I see if we can get a Dyson comp or two planned on the back of this? Never sure if folks really want to win a new hoover, but looks like someone might.

Sleepdeprivationandme - we've reiterated it a couple of times and included the question so we can be sure we don't offer someone a dyson to test who then turns out not to be able to collect it. Hope that makes sense.

The London address is 3-5 Ives Street, London, SW3 and RTKangaMummy - as long as the email addy is one that you respond to that's fine.

hth

I can't get to either of those.

Flier · 04/02/2008 12:53

a future comp would be good, yes.

MamaG · 04/02/2008 12:54

I think its a bit mean to all jump on MNHQ - they are doing you a favour surely by bringing this to your attention

hunofmonsters · 04/02/2008 12:54

my dyson is dying so this would have been ideal
(i vac after an old age house rabbit every day so it would get a lot of use as well!)

SparklyGothKat · 04/02/2008 12:54

applied. I have a dyson already but willing to try out a new one.

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2008 12:55

Thanks Carrie

The one I put is my main one

MY MN one I only use for MN iyswim

I would deffo love to win a new DYSON

So a competition would be a great idea

The london office would be great for us

misdee · 04/02/2008 12:58

i love my dyson, but i almost killed it last week (its the same age as dd1), but managed to revive it for a wee bit longer (i hope!)

hunofmonsters · 04/02/2008 12:59

don't laugh - I've applied too - I've looked at the train fares and decided that it's worth the effort and cost to go down to London (if I'm picked as one of the volunteers of course) to pick up a hoover to trial at home........and keep if I like it.

Dh will no doubt think I've lost the plot........or maybe he won't as our vacuum is dying/practically dead and we can't afford a new one at the moment - he's always complaining about how rubbish our current one is

WendyWeber · 04/02/2008 13:18

Luckily I don't want another Dyson, even if it is free

WendyWeber · 04/02/2008 13:23

(I mean luckily as I couldn't pick up in London or Wilts)

bogie · 04/02/2008 13:30

I have applied i have no hoover and its driving me mad it broke a month ago and i have to keep borrowing mil.

RTKangaMummy · 04/02/2008 13:31

LOL @ people talking about "HOOVER"

I don't think the DYSON people will like that
