Who'd like to try out a new Dyson vacuum cleaner?

CarrieMumsnet · 04/02/2008 11:43

We've been asked by Dyson to find 20 volunteers to test out a couple of brand new vacuum cleaners. To be eligible for the trial you need to do most of your own hoovering (so maybe it's time to give the cleaner a holiday ) and be able to collect your machine from Dyson's London or Wiltshire offices and stay for a brief demo.

If you like the machine you will be free to keep it. All we ask is that you agree to give feedback on an open section of Talk (that we'll set up in a couple of weeks time) and join in an online focus group (basically an online chat) with the Dyson engineers to tell them what you really think.

We're hoping to get all our volunteers in place by the end of the week, so if you're interested please sign up here

Which models are the ones we are testing?

ShinyDysonHereICome · 07/02/2008 17:54

All the new ones she is soooo helpful and even asked if I have a pet/any allergies so she can give me the best one!

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 07/02/2008 17:55

Hmmm it's funny that very very regulars seem to make up the majority of those 'randomly chosen'

Yes I am bitter.

Now I'll have to battle my way through argos for a new hoover.

ShinyDysonHereICome · 07/02/2008 17:58

I think names were pulled out of a hat

littlerach · 07/02/2008 18:18

Oooh, I have been chosen too.
I will be at the Wiltshire offcie too.

DualCylinderCod · 07/02/2008 18:22

NOT AT 3 PM ON MONDAY?

chenin · 07/02/2008 19:09

Just got in from work and I have been picked! Yay! Can go to Malmesbury anytime on the Tuesday but am rather worried cos can't do Thursday 6th March for anything. The email said Thursday 7th March so am hoping it is Friday 7th March!

I have emailed Mumsnet and lady at Dyson so have everything crossed I am still alright for it!

tjacksonpfc · 07/02/2008 19:35

i take it i was to late entering then typical just my luck and i dont live that far from the wiltshire office either lol

magHOOVERlia74 · 07/02/2008 21:46

Scooby, I will be going to the london one but don't know how or when as I don't drive so need to sort something

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 07/02/2008 21:50

Me and Misdee are going to the london one, we are catching the tube from Cockfosters to south kensington (sp) and walking the short distance to the office.

Will we be allow an allery one or an animal one? or is it just basic ones?

magHOOVERlia74 · 07/02/2008 22:00

Just realised it's half term week! What am I gonna do with 5 kids

SparklyDYSONGothKat · 07/02/2008 22:05

oh bugger mag, My kids are off school next week so we are ok.

magHOOVERlia74 · 07/02/2008 22:24

Just looked on the website, I want the Animal Ball!!! Looks fab

ScoobyDYSONDoo · 08/02/2008 09:33

Ah not sure i am going to bother going to the London one now because of all the traffic etc it is in central london, so it will ps on my journey to go to wiltshire but its worth it.

I know it is half term week which is a bummer, dp may be home though if not i will have to seek my mum out

We are also moving next friday!

eidsvold · 08/02/2008 09:57

WHat about us antopodeans - we too have shag pile that needs cleaning [wishes she did not live so far away]

I could collect from Dyson in Brisbane - and could be the international rep!!!!

Okay worth a shot. I too could do with a new vacuum cleaner.

pootleflump · 08/02/2008 10:07

I've applied, I'm very close to their Malmesbury (Wilts) place.

Unfortunately my friend who worked in the office just left yesterday, or she could've put a good word in for me .

littlerach · 08/02/2008 10:11

I am going on the tuesday now.
Will have to take girls as it's half term.

DH is ocncerned at how excited I ma.

Peachy · 08/02/2008 10:13

We're off today and next week so will be OK too for us

however would have happily made a 60 mile detour to mum's for childcare for this!

We have our landlords inspection later that week as well- should help to have a working vacuum LOL

CountessDracula · 08/02/2008 10:15

I am sulking at not being chosen

I guess they found out my lie (that I do my own hoovering) damn

chenin · 08/02/2008 10:19

I am going to Malmesbury at 10am on Tue 19th... I certainly need to put this Dyson through its paces and now I have a ready made excuse not to hoover until some time after 19th Feb. Hooray!

Mistymoo · 08/02/2008 10:25

What a surprise - another south of England based thing!

Peachy · 08/02/2008 10:28

yeah but- Dyson are south of england aren't they? What you expect, them to ask them to move their HQ?

(Do know how you feel having grown up n rural somerset- not an awful lot based there either- but this is more a where the Dyson offices are thing than anything else)

Mistymoo · 08/02/2008 10:33

I know but sometimes we are definately penalised living in the Highlands, courier charges are a typical example. If we try to buy anything there is always an extra charge but they don't charge extra for say Aberdeen which is a much more awkward journey than Inverness.

Hey ho that's what I get for living in the sticks - away from any civilisation etc etc etc

Peachy · 08/02/2008 10:36

I know, - good friends living in Kyle of Lochalsh (sp).

We live in Wales now and have access to cities- hometown basically did a stonking range of pound shops! It's a different world (though I still find I use internet shopping loads as now we have the aprking to contend with instead LOL)

OliviaMumsnet · 08/02/2008 10:36

Hi Mistymoo
Just wanted to say we do try and offer things that are nationally based as often as possible but in cases like this, it was too good to turn down!
