Mumsnet not working on safari on iPad?

I can open the site but can't click on any thread, on 'I'm watching' or, basically do anything.
Is it my problem or a site problem?

Is this fault being ignored to make everyone having difficulties use the App instead, which doesn't seem to have any freezing issues.
It's been 3 wks now and you'd think MNHQ would have gone back with something other than "the tech guys are looking into it".
I am getting truly fed up of my screen freezing and being unable to post properly.

MaryPlain59 · 22/10/2018 21:48

MNHQ you seem disinterested and uncaring.

TwoGinScentedTears · 22/10/2018 21:58

I'm having the same issue but I think it's to do with ads taking so long to load. If I scroll down a thread before the ads have fully loaded, it will freeze after some jerky swiping. If I wait for the ads to load before I touch my screen it's much better. iPhone, safari, mobile site

salsamad · 23/10/2018 14:04

I think your definitely onto something @TwoGinScentedTears.
It's the ads not loading up fast enough that's causing the issue on my iPad. Sometimes there's blank space where the ads should be and they are struggling to load and screen is frozen immediately. If I try to scroll before they are fully on screen then it causes same issue but if I wait every time I swop pages etc for the ads to fully appear then I don't have an issue.
Is anyone else the same? Could it be bloody adverts again causing problems?

AnyaaaaaaaaaaaarghMumsnet · 23/10/2018 17:02

Hi there everyone,

We're really sorry, we know it's not what you want to hear but we've spoken to tech and they still aren't able to replicate the issue. Unfortunately this means that we can't see what might be wrong.

We are still working on it, and hope to find out what's going wrong soon.

Thenewdoctor · 23/10/2018 17:03

I’m getting server cannot be found which I’m not sure is an add issue? But it’s frustrating. When it happens it happens over. And over. And over.

TwoGinScentedTears · 23/10/2018 18:49

Yes, I get the blank space too. That's how I know I need to wait. And wait and wait some more. I'm here less because of it TBH, it's like having some horrible dial up connection and actually in the last month I've gone over to fibre super fast broadband. Super fast for everything except MN!!

Thenewdoctor · 23/10/2018 18:51

Yip. I have to swipe out of safari altogether because it seems to block the whole thing. I can’t get any other pages to load either. And it’s only mumsnet this starts on.

PinkBuffalo · 23/10/2018 18:51

That's really interesting about waiting a while to make sure the page is loaded. I couldn't even post yesterday, but am hoping this post has gone on successfully!

Jackyjill6 · 23/10/2018 19:27

Just popping in to say it seems all fine for me now, hope I'm not speaking too soon.

Battenburg1978 · 23/10/2018 20:41

I am also experiencing this issue - it is becoming tiresome and I also have the problem mentioned above where once the page has frozen onMumsnet, it then won't load any other pages. This is using iPhone safari.

SuperSuperSuper · 23/10/2018 22:58

I'm still having this problem. I hope it's fixed soon.

CherLooksYoungerThanMe · 24/10/2018 09:18

Mumsnet still freezing for me on iPad. No other website has the problem, and I use it for work and home, so quite a lot. Mumsnet works on my laptop, but I'm rarely on that.

It's making the site unusable for me. I don't want to download the app.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 24/10/2018 12:04

Unusable this morning. It's definitely the ads, it always is. I don't find waiting helps, and am having to close and re open the browser constantly to unfreeze it, which lasts, if I'm lucky, long enough to read about three posts. Several closing and re openings to get the links to be clickable long enough to get one opened.

PanPanPanPing · 24/10/2018 18:44

Still utterly useless for me on iPad too.

"...we've spoken to tech and they still aren't able to replicate the issue. Unfortunately this means that we can't see what might be wrong."

Replicate what though? The tinkering that Tech was doing at the beginning of this month with other things, but when it all started going pear-shaped with iPads?

Tartyflette · 25/10/2018 00:09

Yep, same problem here. Slow to load, pages freezing and generally a real pain.

Chewbecca · 25/10/2018 09:24

Seems it is RIP for MN via safari on iPad

RJnomore1 · 25/10/2018 09:28

It's happening on my iPhone too for at least the last week, I'm really glad to spot this thread because I thought it was actually my phone doing it.

Safari too.

JoggerBottom · 25/10/2018 15:07

Bump...

BitOfFun · 25/10/2018 15:10

Same here. I keep having to shut down.

TheOneWithTheBaby · 25/10/2018 17:55

This is really annoying. Safari is the only way I currently access mumsnet!
It freezes all the time now. Even when I restart everything it often just works a few minutes

silkpyjamasallday · 25/10/2018 17:58

I've been having this issue too, but I've found if I'm in a normal browser (as opposed to a private/incognito) it works fine. Does seem to have something to do with the ads.

dfwr · 25/10/2018 17:59

It's so bad I've had to sign in on my work machine because having to constantly refresh and refresh was just awful.

IdahoCrow · 25/10/2018 18:00

I'm on a kindle (silk browser) and I've got trouble today with pages being incredibly slow to load.

Also, in both mobile site and desktop mode, the emoji and PM buttons are dead to me - this has been the case for over a week. I've reported it a few times now.

Redcrayons · 25/10/2018 20:45

This has been happening for me as well. It’s ok on my iPhone but freezes on my iPad.

Kind of glad to see this thread, because I’ve just been pricing up new iPads Shock
