I must open all the wrong threads. Because I don't remember Stratters being a difficult or rude poster

Lynnm63 · 25/08/2017 19:21

Queen the Reddit threads are not brutal well not unless you're a snowflake.
I think it's dreadful that Stratters can be banned from this site for posting an innocuous photo on another site. Personally I think Justine has tried to use this faux outrage at a cockroach photo to draw attention away from the fact that HQ have not addressed ever their failings regarding David. HQ are very much 'move along, nothing to see here' rather than addressing problems. Much easier to ban. I guess we are interefering with Justine's aim to sell the site for shedloads of dosh.

PandorasXbox · 25/08/2017 19:22

My guess is that Stratters has been banned for stuff she's said on Reddit about HQ because she has the same name over there. When I looked a few weeks ago the other posters had different usernames to here. They'd probably be banned too if their names were the ones they have here.

oddfish · 25/08/2017 19:22

Reddit has to be read from the bottom up and across. Confused. I've given it a go but I've decided to stay here instead.

I think Mumsnet needs to re-think it's punishments. Banning from posting on certain areas for example, might work. Or a 2,4,6 or 8 week ban system. A permanent ban just means they re-register under a new name and there's no incentive to change behaviour.

PandorasXbox · 25/08/2017 19:23

Rubbish. It's a complete bitchfest.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/08/2017 19:25

Very good post, BrainSaysNo. Room on that fence for my arse too?

I've always liked Stratters but I didn't find the cockroach thing funny. And a member of MNHQ was named on the thread (not by stratters)

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 25/08/2017 19:25

Genuinely not sure what's gone down here in the last 24 hours.

Maudlinmaud, a précis:

MNHQ likened some (troublesome) posters to shoplifters in Boots (the shop, not the shoe), then someone Stratters Wink posted a pic of Milton the cockroach on Reddit & said it was MNHQ complaints dept.
Justine not happy, shoplifters not happy.

An interesting side note is that, as everyone knows, only cockroaches & Grifter bikes are able to withstand a nuclear holocaust, so MN should emerge unscathed when the dust settles on this.

NormaDesmondsEyebrows · 25/08/2017 19:27

It's not a bitchfest. It's a bit more free speechy than here but it's no worse than AIBU. Better really because no one's being snidey or shitty, they are just saying it right to your face (screen?).

It's more like it used to be here when moderation was much lighter and you called a cunt out on a thread instead of reporting. It's much more honest.

QueenMortificado · 25/08/2017 19:27

What crap. Naming posters then picking them apart in the bitchiest of ways.

BackieJerkhart · 25/08/2017 19:28

oddfish I think your suggestion is much better than current system.

'I was always under the impression that it was extremely bad form to bring arguments across forums? Has that changed ?'

Probably not for you and me...

And it does seem a bad form to do that. Petulant even.

PandorasXbox · 25/08/2017 19:29

How are they saying it to your face when you're not there to defend yourself?

QueenMortificado · 25/08/2017 19:29

In many instances it's not saying anything to someone's face. It's gossiping about certain posters who aren't even on the threads.

'Rubbish. It's a complete bitchfest'
I can't find anything about mn or cockroaches on there, am I thick or is it very hard to navigate?

Cheers faith I'm on reddit with the same username but haven't looked recently. I guess that means I'm also persona non grata.

PlectrumElectrum · 25/08/2017 19:31

Place mark

NormaDesmondsEyebrows · 25/08/2017 19:31

Pretty sure the poster(s) being discussed are well used to googling their own usernames.

The only one I can think of is well aware she's being talked about and has sent her flying monkey in rather than address it herself.

And nothing has been said that's untrue or nasty.

Nope

Lizzylou · 25/08/2017 19:33

I have looked at the Reddit threads, they are quite brutally honest about one poster (rightly so in the most part, she does seem pretty teflon coated in MNHQ tbh) and actually self-police rather nicely. Reddit is though VERY difficult to read and comprehend posts are all over the place.
I am really shocked at the treatment of Stratters and wholeheartedly agree with Mrs V's post. This is not the MN and the MNHQ of old.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/08/2017 19:33

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 25/08/2017 19:33

I can't work out how to use Reddit or I'd be over there like a shot

oddfish · 25/08/2017 19:33

A points system that only HQ and the person can see? A bit like a driving licence.

There also needs to be some kind of appeal system. There are some very dodgy sounding ban stories going around.

There is another problem that you can read Mumsnet, but can't report threads. What happens when a banned lurker sees something very bad?
