Abandoning the policy of responding to all reports was a mistake I think.

It's quite startling to read today that @thefirstmrsdv and @maryz have both given up reporting or lost faith in the report system.

I believe ALL reports used to receive a response of some sort? I know there was a bit of uproar when that changed.

I'm thinking that maybe going back to the old way might result in more dialogue and more people willing to report generally ( ?)

Hey let's face it looks like reporting stuff or objecting to disablism gets you banned anyway nowadays.

There are currently three threads on someone being fostered, in Fostering, Chat and AIBU

I think I know the ones you mean.

In no way TAAT but in general terms, is there a guideline about not doing duplicate threads then? I can see it seems a bit weird posting three times, but dont people do that (except they normally say things like "I've also posted this in Legal" etc).

(Clue Big Philosophical Question..) Is attention seeking synonymous with trolling in all cases? Just wondering whether an OP who posts on 2 or more boards deserves to be reported? Shouldn't they be given the benefit of the doubt...

SerfTerf · 07/08/2017 19:19

I don't think I'm up to Big Philosophical Questions but reporting duplicate threads is helpful isn't it? To consolidate the responses?

I report more now than I ever did, so not getting an individual response doesn't normally bother me (especially if I'm reporting spam - I don't need an email to tell me that they have removed a message from someone who made £6500000 a month working from home....)

And I have had emails from MNHQ about specific reports, both asking me if there was anything in particular that set off my spidey senses or telling me that they have decided to let a thread run or to pull it

HighAlert · 07/08/2017 20:47

The one in fostering is definitely the Zeebrugge troll I didn't report though because I wouldn't have been believed.

I'm not sure why MNHQ are not experienced enough to see it.

VioletPeggs · 07/08/2017 20:54

There's two or three 500+ posts currently running which are 100% bollocks.

People are posting things like " don't care if this is all made up, so funny"

No wonder the trolls are winning
