JustAnothersilentorangenugget · 08/07/2017 16:20

You remember you were going to impliment all kinds of things, Message which explained posts were deleted due to disablism, Emails to the posters, proactive buzzwords...

a year on what has been the result of this massive change in moderation?

Now i'm not suggesting this was a carrot, dangled to try and stop people leaving....
But we donkeys ARE getting a little tired of walking and woudl like to know what plans are there for the future to stop attacks.

Because you have a sad existence and can only feel good by making others miserable?

Disillusionedone · 09/07/2017 22:15

And because people have called you out on being disabilist and its not a nice realisation.

Or because you can get a nice rewarding reaction as people get upset

Samcro · 09/07/2017 22:20

Because they can
Make a racist post, deleted
Same with most other isms
Make a disablist post and you can pretend you are asking a question,
Look at earlier in this thread, someone trying to get this thread deleted, cos they can,
The bus thread, was actually going well.. till it was derailed so it all get deleted, they win..cos they can

Dawndonnaagain · 09/07/2017 22:24

Again, thank you. I do know I'm lucky to have the support I'm getting here and elsewhere. Flowers

We need to appoint a couple of mods who are contactable, preferably people from the SN boards who are used to this sort of thing, specifically for these threads. Not via hq but people who are here or on fb regularly. Volunteers if you like, with powers to delete and block, but only on these threads.

hazeyjane · 09/07/2017 22:35

Somehow I have missed these threads (head stuck up arse at the moment) - but just wanted to give these Flowers to Dawndonna.

SumThucker · 09/07/2017 22:39

I was on that thread yesterday, can't believe Dawn has been attacked again on here. Sad bastard(s) Angry

magimedi · 09/07/2017 22:57

I have missed the threads but would just like to send Flowers to Dawn & say that I (as someone who has no immediate connection with any disabled person) have learnt so much from so many threads on Mumsnet.

So many of you have educated me about so much I didn't know about before I started reading here.

I have not got the words to say more but thank you for opening my eyes to many, many things.

FeralBeryl · 09/07/2017 23:09

Magimedi me too, that's why it's so important to enable these articulate posters helping to educate people without becoming jaded by the constant bullshit and attacks of breathtaking disablism.

I honestly think a lot of issues just simply haven't occurred to any people (lucky them eh) we see time and time again, new parents existing in a bubble of them, their child, and nothing or no one else.
I've seen opinions on threads change for the better on countless occasions - mainly in part due to the never ending patience of people like the lovely DD

  • HQ would some kind of 'champion Disability protection' role be a possibility? I'm thinking back to when NHS champions were introduced. I agree that the mods have a hell of a task on here keeping watch, but surely now this topic requires a specific invigilator? One with the power to immediately remove posts and temporarily block users.

Anyway - I'm incredibly sorry for anyone affected here, and on the fucking horrible thread yesterday. I will continue to challenge, report get posts deleted because I've told them to fuck off and support. If more knowledgeable posters wish to steer me in any other way of assisting, please let me know.
Flowers

It has been allowed to get so far out of hand, HQ are to blame for that, they've spent years turning a blind eye to it and instead of admitting and fixing the problem they've played it down and instead deleted those that snap after speaking out against it. They've done this so much that now we are at a point where it's undenyable, it can't be swept under the rug and even the most casual posters have noticed it.

They've fucked up massivly, they've had good suggestions on how to deal with it, they need to take action but it's not going to happen becuase it requires hard work a change of how they moderate, which isn't going to happen.

Dawndonnaagain · 10/07/2017 08:17

Again, Thank you so much for your support, everyone. Blush
I can't believe how kind everyone has been, it's the one thing that's keeping me here at the moment. Flowers

Ghostofasmile · 10/07/2017 09:25

It never used to feel like it was personal, but now it very clearly often is personal.

Targeted attacks have always been there, the only thing that has changed is how prolific they are, where it used to be dressed up as somewhat innocent "oh i didn't realize" it's now openly hate speech.
This is because MNHQ have done nothing about it, there is no action taken against it and nothing in place to stop it happening so these people can be a vile as they like.

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 09:52

Well me in my previous name which I had to change due to trolls making a beeline for me and some of my friends (who have left due to hq's persistent refusal to deal with it) did say this would happen.

But no. We had to educate.

But no, we shouldn't stifle debate )although if you'd swapped disabled for black it'd have been banhammer central).

But no - mnhq has staff who have disabilities and disabled family members.

All the above has been used to enable this trolling to flourish.

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 09:55

people with children with mild needs often also posted disablist things and HQ just took blanket view that noone with a child with a disability could be disablist, which caused some dubious statements to stand.

An advisor is needed I think.

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 09:56

for example "all kids with ASD can learn to behave as mine can"

YouHaveBeenSummarilyDismissed · 10/07/2017 09:56

Even people with severely disabled family members can be ableist!

BishopBrennansArse · 10/07/2017 09:59

Forgot to mention. We raised this at least seven years ago and on numerous occasions since.

Disillusionedone · 10/07/2017 10:03

You see- there are some hot issues around this topic, obviously Wink

MrsJayy · 10/07/2017 10:14

I think my last straw on this was "Well you wanted equality now you have it and you are still complaining" i had enough after that i have no energy to argue or debate with that attitude
