SLOW! It's so fucking slow now, I can't even get long threads to load any more

Let alone post on them.

It's beyond a joke now, vast swathes of MN are now totally inaccessible to me. Can we PLEASE sort this out?

iPad, safari, main site.

Loads top of page (so can see OP and then usually around half the first reply) then freezes. Gave up.

Mobile site on Android seems to be working fine though.

RedGrapeCornSnake · 04/03/2017 21:35

Pretty sure it's an eBay ad that's messing me about, I get it partially loaded and then it sticks. It's occasionally loaded fully, the ad is pale blue, at the top of the page and is animated
I can't download Adblock plus as my iPad is too old - dammit

Maladicta · 04/03/2017 21:36

Accessing through any browser on iPhone is impossible Angry

LeBoob · 04/03/2017 21:37

It's actually getting worse!

Still completely unusable from my iPhone 6, even after installing adblocker.

The problem seems to be limited to Apple products. I can't get onto the site at all on iPad, and it keeps crashing on my MacBook Air. However, it seems more or less OK on Microsoft.

Becca19962014 · 04/03/2017 22:17

Today I've begun getting dodgy ads appearing again. The next time I see one I'll screen shot. I've seen two for gambling websites (nothing to do with my search history) and one for fake designer clothes.

The gambling ones are taking up a lot of my bandwidth and running scripts which are failing due to security settings I have on my iPad.

Aside from that everything is the same for me.

lokisglowstickofdestiny1 · 04/03/2017 22:17

Think it's time to find another forum, this is beyond crap.

Mummylin · 04/03/2017 22:26

I have to say that since I installed the adblocker about an hour and a half ago, I have been able to get on all the threads, which I haven't been able to do all day. The blocker was my last resort. Luckily it seems to of worked so far.

Herschellmum · 04/03/2017 22:29

Slow here too, iPad user, given up several times.

dowhatnow · 04/03/2017 22:30

Cant install ad blocker on my iPad as it is too old. Have borrowed dh's now and installed ad blocker but he is going to want it back soon.

Bye mumsnet unless you sort this out sharpish!

rumblingDMexploitingbstds · 04/03/2017 22:33

24 hours now using ad blocker plus on iPad and the difference is magical.

Closedenv · 04/03/2017 22:36

Thought it was something wrong with mine since yesterday I've been unable to get more than half way down the page to load and then not managed to get any further until now.

Ruhrpott · 05/03/2017 00:04

Same for me with iPhone 6 and safari. Just downloaded ad blocker plus and seems to be much better.

ArriettyClock1 · 05/03/2017 00:07

OMG - I have just opened up my Macbook and MN and it is so atrociously slow, gets stuck, half the screen - really awful.

BakeOffBiscuits · 05/03/2017 00:09

Have MNHQ undated since last Wednesday? I can't be arsed to scroll back as it would take all bloody night

zen1 · 05/03/2017 00:13

Same problems as everyone else using Safari on iPad and iPhone. Just can't get it to work. The only time I can get past the homepage is around this time of night, but it is still unbelievably slow.

Becca19962014 · 05/03/2017 00:14

I think there was an update on Friday saying it was an ad problem and fixed Hmm

ScarletSienna · 05/03/2017 00:16

It's been so bad that nothing loads on iPhone, especially ads-they're just vast gaps.

Batteriesallgone · 05/03/2017 05:54

MNHQ aren't being particularly communicative

Itisnoteasybeingdifferent · 05/03/2017 06:40

There are two possible problems..
It's got to be something to do with the ads and ad tracking.
Or the site is just too overloaded with people logging on and they need bigger and more powerful systems.

Addressing the add question is simple.. cut out the ads and see if it works better. There is no harm to revenue because people are no longer to log in and see the ads.. (I hate them anyway). Then bring back one ad at a time to see which one is causing the problem.

Tanaqui · 05/03/2017 07:11

iPhone, safari, mobile site, gave up even trying at 930 last night and went to bed!

Loopytiles · 05/03/2017 07:23

Iphone 5, safari, yesterday afternoon and evening.

poor!

TheEagle · 05/03/2017 07:26

iPhone 5s, safari, wouldn't load AT ALL last night.

It's getting really frustrating Confused
