SLOW! It's so fucking slow now, I can't even get long threads to load any more

Let alone post on them.

It's beyond a joke now, vast swathes of MN are now totally inaccessible to me. Can we PLEASE sort this out?

Now back on iPad with the Adblocker app on and ok at the moment, so will see.

ScrambledSmegs · 02/03/2017 21:38

Oh, thanks god for Adblockers, I can finally use MN on my phone again (no, I don't get on with the app, am old school).

I assume that you really don't want us to instal adblockers as that will annoy advertisers, but if you make the site that unusable with adverts what on earth do you expect us to do?

AVeryBigHouse · 02/03/2017 22:16

Been having problems here too. I'm on an iPad, using internet explorer and on latest IOS.

Threads aren't loading and my screen has been unresponsive. Seems much better this evening though.

LightastheBreeze · 02/03/2017 22:29

I have now put the ad blocker on my MacBook and the spinning ball of doom has disappeared and pages are loading OK

TeenageCentaurMortificado · 02/03/2017 22:42

Fuck the fuck off!! Literally THIS is the only thread I've seen in days!!!!! Angry

Every time I flipping click on something

SLOW! It's so fucking slow now, I can't even get long threads to load any more
rumblingDMexploitingbstds · 02/03/2017 22:45

I've had to surrender with my ipad. Been gradually worsening and now it just won't load pages at all any more, the site's unusable on it.

Still fine on laptop except for the bloody jumping! I'm forever having to close unwanted pages and go back to click the link I was aiming for when the page hopped around!

PingaPenguin · 02/03/2017 22:48

Safari on iPad and iPhone 7. Same as everyone else, so so slow/refusing to load/completely freezing to the point of the touchscreen being unresponsive. Have to close the webpage and reopen as can't even navigate to another site from the page MN has frozen on.

Moanyoldcow · 02/03/2017 23:12

I'm quite new to mumsnet but this is beyond frustrating.

Can see it's been. Going on for months - why can't someone actually deal with this?

ThreeFish · 02/03/2017 23:46

It's unusable tonight on iPad iOS 10.2.1 on safari.
Unusable.
Not reloading.
Not moving.
I've rebooted, all other websites fine.
(I'm on my phone now)

BakeOffBiscuits · 02/03/2017 23:59

Exactly the same as ThreeFish. I managed to post on one thread this evening, then the site became unusable. I've changed to my iPhone to post this.

zen1 · 03/03/2017 00:52

Same problems here all day yesterday and today on iPad and iPhone (safari). Sometimes page only half loads then stops. Other times, the site loads but then becomes unresponsive as soon as I try to click on a thread. It seems better on the PC (not using safari).

highinthesky · 03/03/2017 00:54

Painfully slow and not loading during the day (iPad) - but fine after midnight. Something to do with site traffic?

highinthesky · 03/03/2017 00:56

The worst thing is you can't even get to this thread for advice when stuck!

By the time you do, it's a bother to scroll through 11 pages to see if there's an answer. Perhaps put something on the homepage?

Melfish · 03/03/2017 01:00

It doesn't work for most of the day on safari or chrome on ipad or iphone. Page half loads then 'resets' itself by showing a blank screen. Only seems to work after midnight.

Batteriesallgone · 03/03/2017 06:19

I don't really want to instal adblocks but I suppose I could. DH is always saying I should. Seems like an odd solution though - the site is unworkable because it's monetised, so users should de-monetise it to get it to work...

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/03/2017 06:35

It was awful nearly all day for me yesterday, it finally improved at about 8pm. Still on iPhone 6 and using safari.

I did wonder if it was something to do with site traffic as it was worst between 12-4.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 03/03/2017 07:22

Mine is intermittently hanging up (Iphone, Safari, mobile version). I find shutting all my browser windows and apps sorts it out, but it has never been needed before this week which suggests it is taking up a lot more data than it used to. The ads in the middle of threads are so annoying too. I've hidden most thread topics and decided to largely give up MN for Lent.

AuntieStella · 03/03/2017 07:28

The morning has started off OK, but it's just refused to load for the first time.

I wasn't going to bother getting an adblocker.

But if this isn't fixed for users of Safari on IPhones/iPads fairly soon, I'll have to. It's either that or talk to DH!

But seriously, will you be telling advertisers that the site is unusuable without adblockers for a couple of fairly major platforms?

LightastheBreeze · 03/03/2017 07:31

I had to install the ad blocker as MN was unusable for me and seemed to freeze all my devices, and the only way I could free them up was to clear all my web data each time. The ad blocker seems to have cured it and I will see how I get on with it and if there are any side effects to using the Adblocker.

I'm guessing it must the ads if Adblocker cured it

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 03/03/2017 07:37

Oh and my battery is draining faster than usual, another sign of heavy data usage.

CiderwithBuda · 03/03/2017 07:38

Haven't wanted to install AdBlocker as I know MN needs to make money somehow but needs must.

I agree it seems to be the ads. Particularly the one right at the op of the page.

Now, how do I install said AdBlocker?

RustyBear · 03/03/2017 07:44

The biggest drawback I've found is that YouTube videos won't play in Safari while the AdBlocker is on. I'm using AbBlocker Plus by Gil Strauchter, I don't know if they all have this effect. It doesn't matter too much to me, as I nearly always open YouTube in the app, but I might try a different one.

I'd prefer not to have to use one at all, though...

Millie2013 · 03/03/2017 07:45

Mine improved, but now pages aren't loading and are freezing up again
Off to investigate adblocker

LightastheBreeze · 03/03/2017 07:48

To install ad blocker on iPhone and iPad, it is an App. I have the one called ABP - Adblock plus. Install it and follow the instructions, you have to switch it on in Settings, safari, content blockers once it's installed.

CiderwithBuda · 03/03/2017 07:52

Thanks Lightasthebreeze.
