Why is MN so slow?

I'm not moaning - honest!

But Mumsnet s very slow - all the time. There's definitely nothing wrong with my internet, I have 200MB download and all other sites are fine.

I just wonder why this is? Are you throttled?

They haven't been hacked. It's something fundamental. Either the coding or the hosting or the adverts or both

Something is definitely up - I've lost 40% of battery in the last 15mins on MN. This was a problem a while back but it got better recently (until now). Also getting lots of fails to open threads in the last 2 days.

It's slow for me too, mostly using ios.

I thought it was my dodgy internet connection but DH was watching videos on his phone last night while I was waiting for mn to load.

Very slow for me too, I've been blaming the Netflix ad. Still does that jumping around thing too.

I've recently noticed threads are not staying in the right place either. You end up re-reading stuff because the thread's moved.

MNHQ: MN is always slower to load than other sites.
Last night and today is particularly bad - I have just given up several times on pages not loading after 15 seconds or more.

Makes no difference if I use the mobile site on my iPhone or the normal site on my laptop (using chrome).

I have very fast internet connection so it's nothing to do with that!

I'm using Chrome on the mobile site. The netflix ad is currently ginormous... MNHQ is this supposed to be happening?

I'm using the mobile site (not the app) on my iPhone 6 and it's virtually unusable, it's soooooooo slow.

The thread list is displayed but when I click on a thread to read it, absolutely nothing happens for ages unless I click on it 326 times 😩😩😩

I'm getting a HUGE Netflix ad when I click on active.

Being throttled is a slowing down of access, Just say whoever hosts MN has a possible maximum speed of connection of 100 to their server. If you throttle the speed, you deliberately slow the speed to MN down to say 50.

Enormous adverts can't be helping.....

I have very fast connection too 200MB Syschronous! Defintiely not my connection, and definitely not my PC (Running on SSD, 22GB RAM, Core i7)

Can't be doing Netflix much good either - that ad is not going to generate much goodwill for them if they are getting in the way of MNers!

I don't have an ad problem (due to being on app?) but do have a speed and gobbling up battery issue

No update from MNHQ today??

Also the porn pop ups are still happening!

MNHQ are failing to adequately address the MANY tech issues that KEEP mucking this site up imo

I'm sometimes getting a background wallpaper at either side of the screen - a grey pattern with AIBU children should be seen and not heard in big letters on one side and another AIBU (can't remember what) and the other side - it seems to come and go randomly...
And I am running a script blocker (no script) but seems I currently can't post unless I temporarily allow scripts - but that doesn't seem to make any difference to the background thing randomly appearing....

Meant to say when I get it again I'll try and take a screen shot...
