What's with the milk advert that squishes everything to one side?

The site is starting to be incredibly intrusive advert wise at the moment. We had the pop ups that covered most of the screen and now we have a purple milk one that takes up the top and the side Shock

Give it time and I won't be able to read a thing on here bar ads!!

I can't see any ads at all now. So that rather back fired for Mumsnet Hmm

Costacoffeeplease · 02/12/2016 15:36

Me neither, great isn't it?

AyeAmarok · 02/12/2016 15:54

I got a video for this (pure shite, btw) milk ad and it just automatically started and played sound about the stupid big pants.

Didn't catch a screenshot of it though.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 02/12/2016 18:07

Yeah right am I going to fanny about screenshotting this and date stamping that.
I just log off everytime
As do other people
Well that will end well Hmm

ARichVernacular · 03/12/2016 09:50

Just had this now, what the actual fuck?

JustAnotherSadOldNumber · 03/12/2016 14:03

Did you screen shot and time stamp it like you were supposed to, to prove you are not lying?

ARichVernacular · 04/12/2016 08:37

I didn't even RTFT from beginning to end.

FannyDaggers · 04/12/2016 08:47

Done here as well. Sorry MNHQ but the new format was a step too far for me.

Plus the A2 campaign was a sexist pile of tosh.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 04/12/2016 13:16

Still happening
Its shit
Im out

WalrusGumboot · 04/12/2016 16:36

I've got around this problem by using MN as little as possible. I've hardly seen the ad but then I've hardly been here.

Although if you generally log in every day even for 15 minutes, once a day is way too much for an ad like that. It's going to feel very different than if you're on 5 or 6 hours for example. For that reason, I think the rule is a bit pointless.

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 04/12/2016 20:04

I got kicked out of the mobile site today. Not sure why but it took me to full site with sidebar so I could see what MNHQ mean. It might not be quite so intrusive on a desktop but it's completely antisocial on the mobile site.

I'm surprised Tech let you run that monstrosity on the carefully pared down, clean mobile site.

Poor tech, builds the website, carefully constructs the mobile experience for optimum user experience and then some twunt from marketing does a deal and shits all over it :(

honeysucklejasmine · 04/12/2016 20:55

Glad I am not the only one who thinks it's a disgusting, sexist advert.

As soon as I notice my screen resizing itself in preparation for the advert, I hit back.

I can honestly say if I see A2 in shops, I will sneer and walk away.

lolalament · 04/12/2016 22:06

I came here expecting the ad to be a mistake. I can't see how anyone thinks it's a good idea. I realise you want advertising revenue, but intrusive ads are not the way to go about things.

I've now installed an ad blocker too.

AngieMumsnet · 05/12/2016 17:24

Thank you all for your feedback whilst we trialled this format.
We have removed it from the site for now.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 05/12/2016 17:38

Thanks Angie.

You did get the part about the ad content being offensive as well as the format?

AngieMumsnet · 05/12/2016 17:47

HI EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans

Yes I did Smile and all comments have been passed on accordingly.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 05/12/2016 17:52

Thank you! Wine

AyeAmarok · 05/12/2016 22:20

Cheers Angie, appreciate the update!

Mner · 05/12/2016 23:09

Thank you!

cirrusblue · 06/12/2016 10:59

That's great. The advert pattern round the sides of the screen was incredibly distracting and I had to stop using the site as a result. I have never seen it used anywhere else on internet forums. Your message said you have stopped it "for now". Please do not bring it back!

cirrusblue · 06/12/2016 11:01

Eek! I spoke too soon. The pattern round the side has just come back! What is this due to?

AngieMumsnet · 06/12/2016 11:16

Hi cirrusblue

What do you mean by The pattern round the side has just come back?
Can you send me a screenshot please?

cirrusblue · 06/12/2016 12:29

Since the ad changes I have been getting an intermittent thin vertical bar of pattern round both vertical sides of the Mumsnet pages. The next time it happens I will try and send a screenshot. I am on a Desktop windows 7 Internet Explorer.
