What's with the milk advert that squishes everything to one side?

The site is starting to be incredibly intrusive advert wise at the moment. We had the pop ups that covered most of the screen and now we have a purple milk one that takes up the top and the side Shock

Give it time and I won't be able to read a thing on here bar ads!!

Just got this too

Just had it again on a telly addicts thread. Very irritating esp as my phone is quite diddy so I only get a few words per line when it's all squashed

SleepFreeZone · 27/11/2016 15:05

Just had it again. I'm meant to be giving up dairy soon to try and sort out a skin complaint so this is just hardening my resolve 🙄

What makes A2 milk easy to digest?

JustAnotherSadOldNumber · 27/11/2016 15:07

Have you googled or mention that on facebook sleep, that's why the ad targets you.

SleepFreeZone · 27/11/2016 15:08

OMG no, I'm not on Facebook.

Somethings been removed from it I think. Something like that anyway

Claims it's suitable for CMPA babies

honeysucklejasmine · 27/11/2016 15:44

I do find it mildly sexist too tbh. Would they make this ad for a male dominated website?

On the phone it makes the site hard to read!

Just checking the thread to read MNHQ update... And what decided to pop up on thevrught if my mobile screen?

Shite sexist milk advert. Fucking control pants = fuck off.

I am abroad and this milk isn't sold here, not that i'd buy it - out of sheer rebellion Grin

So, 2 days later and it is still popping up Angry

frikadela01 · 28/11/2016 10:18

Seriously... I get you have to advertise but making the site almost unusable is ridiculous.

Stoooooop it!!!

Naoko · 28/11/2016 13:28

Cut it out, HQ. Don't make me root my phone just so I can install an adblocker for mobile Chrome. Advertising isn't what drives people to adblockers, intrusive advertising is.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 28/11/2016 13:38

Katherine, AngieMumsnet said it's there on purpose but that nobody should see it more than once a day.

Every time I see that A2 sponsored thread now I just think "You're the pests with the annoying ad, aren't you?"

I'm really fed up with all these adverts on Mumsnet. I've just had the milk advert, after they finally got rid of the pop ups.

KatherineMumsnet · 29/11/2016 11:55

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

SO: We are testing a new ad format and so this ad is how it's actually meant to be. It's in place of a leaderboard and mpu, so it's not actually taking up more screen space in total but might take a bit of getting used to.

They are capped at once per user, per day, so it shouldn't be too intrusive! As ever, we welcome all feedback, so please do keep your thoughts coming.

Thanks Flowers

Duckyneedsaclean · 29/11/2016 11:59

They do use up more space, because they stay there the whole time - you can't scroll past - and give you about 2cm to read threads in. Completely ridiculous.

Plus they appear more than once a day.

PurpleDaisies · 29/11/2016 12:31

Is this how it's meant to be? It's really annoying and on a phone it makes the site really hard to read.

It doesn't even make me want to buy the product...

JustAnotherSadOldNumber · 29/11/2016 12:35

Does it not scroll down with the page?

PurpleDaisies · 29/11/2016 12:36

It does scroll down with the page but takes up so much of the screen that it's hard to read the threads.

GinIsIn · 29/11/2016 12:37

Firstly, it's happening more than once a day, secondly, it's a pain in the arse, and thirdly, you seem to have started trialling it a day or so after lots of us had a week of really intrusive giant pop-ups. Not the best timing!

Fairylea · 29/11/2016 13:04

Done it to me twice today already and to be honest it doesn't work as an advert because I just click off the page as soon as it pops up without even waiting to see what it's advertising! Dreadful marketing.

RoseDeGambrinus · 29/11/2016 13:19

I haven't seen this annoying ad for a couple of days now. Please don't bring this format in - it reduces the reading space on my iPhone 5 to about an inch and a half wide - ridiculous.

KatherineMumsnet · 29/11/2016 15:18

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

For those seeing the ad more than once a day - have you cleared your browsers at all? Our ads team have checked this over and it's very definitely capped, so it would mean that the only way it would pop up more than once is if cookies/search history have been cleared.
