What's with the milk advert that squishes everything to one side?

The site is starting to be incredibly intrusive advert wise at the moment. We had the pop ups that covered most of the screen and now we have a purple milk one that takes up the top and the side Shock

Give it time and I won't be able to read a thing on here bar ads!!

I wouldn't know how to clear a browser if you paid me a million pounds, and I've very definitely had the advert several times today.

Sort it out PLEASE!

PragmaticWench · 29/11/2016 15:30

In case anyone saw a previous comment that a2 milk is suitable for those with CMPA, it really isn't!

It may help those with some kind of mild milk intolerance, it would still trigger an allergic reaction for those with CMPA as it contains milk proteins.

GinIsIn · 29/11/2016 15:35

I have not cleared by browsing history, no.

Fairylea · 29/11/2016 15:44

I haven't cleared my browser or cookies or whatever else. I'm on an iPhone 6 so just me using it and I don't have a clue how to even find the cookies or whatever they are!

Orangepear · 29/11/2016 15:49

I fill out a lot of MN surveys and they often ask if I've seen various advertising on the site. I'm always surprised that I've never seen it as I'm on here all the time and I get annoyed by intrusive ads! I can only conclude that I don't actually read the ads or register what company they are advertising. So they don't work!

Aargh, it's back!

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 29/11/2016 17:02

Katherine, do A2 seriously want their brand associated with the thoughts "Couldn't get rid of the fucker", "pain in the arse", "aargh, it's back" and "bloody milk"?

Even once per day is intrusive and actively puts me off buying that milk. There are too many advert issues at the moment.

WalrusGumboot · 29/11/2016 20:06

I just can't understand why MN and her advertisers want to piss off their users/potential customers.

PinkSquash · 29/11/2016 20:10

I can barely read the mobile site with this ad. It's an absolute PITA

NotMrsTumble · 29/11/2016 20:14

Definitely twice today. I actually stopped reading the thread because it took up so much space. And no, I haven't cleared my browser, haven't switched my phone off. I MAY have been browsing under one of the many already open mnet tabs in Internet on my Galaxy s7, but same device, same user name. If this is the future of the site then I won't be around long. I could cope if there was an X to shut the side bar....

JenLindleyShitMom · 29/11/2016 20:52

So if people happen to have cleared their browser they should have to put up with seeing this thing more than once a day? Hmm

It's really crappy HQ

frikadela01 · 29/11/2016 21:50

I wonder how many users access mn usin mobile devices. I only ever use my phone or very occasionally my tavlet and advertising is infinitely more intrusive on these devices than on a computer. This is a really shitty way of advertising. At least with pop ups you an usually close them down. I had to click off the page to get rid of the milk advert.

PurpleDaisies · 29/11/2016 22:54

I exclusively use my phone for mn. That format of advert makes the site almost unreadable. At least I have only had it once today.

MohammedLover · 29/11/2016 23:16

I have visual vertigo, this style of ad would completely prevent me from using MN as it sends my symptoms through the roof!

It also blocks my view of the side bar which indicates how much of the thread I have got left.

I would love to know how to stop all the ads flashing (but so that I can still see videos), purely due to the MN illness inducing ads!

SleepFreeZone · 30/11/2016 09:33

I'm on my phone and yep, the site becomes unreadable so I have to click out of the thread straight away.

It's interesting how quiet MNHQ are. I assume this means this style of ad is here to stay.

If your after our opinions, as an advertising strategy it doesn't work for me. It may technically not take up more space, but the talk board looks smaller. I close MN down and reopen it. Presumed it was a glitch. Only realized it was A2 milk when the thread started.

GinIsIn · 30/11/2016 09:45

I think if you compare bounce rate to incidences of the ad occurring you probably have your answer already! Please ditch this format -
It's a pain in the arse!

rightsofwomen · 30/11/2016 09:46

I don't see this at all on my phone. Is it cos I use the MN app rather than the mobile site?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 30/11/2016 12:26

This comes up multiple times for me and I've not cleared anything. It is supremely annoying and also horribly sexist.

Most irritatingly itinterrupts any media I am streaming via Apple TV. On Monday night I was watching James & The Giant Peach with DD, streamed from Amazon on my phone to the TV while I idly browsed Mumsnet. Suddenly the bastard A2 milk ad appeared and obliterated my screen which was annoying but then it also stopped the film and replaced it with a large pair of knickers!! Shock

Please get rid of this. I hate it and turn MN off when it happens.

olderthanyouthink · 30/11/2016 14:27

"it's not actually taking up more screen space"

Umm... It really is. That's about a quarter of my screen.
