Update to webchat guest colours

Hi,
This is a heads up that we're soon to introduce a change to the colours used to highlight posts on desktop and mobile.

If you've been around long enough to have the old style customised colours this won't affect you.

For newer users - we needed to add some new web chat guest colours and retire the awful mustard yellow we used in the past on desktop webchats. As a result of that we then needed to update our other colours too.

Thanks all

I'm using a MacBook and Firefox (so not mobile). My colours are all fucked up. (technical term). I had the OP's posts set to green because I found that easier to read but with just one click between posts this morning they are now a hideous pale peach which makes it (for me) difficult to read. Please put it back how it was. I know that some people with dyslexia and related conditions use carefully chosen colour backgrounds to make reading easier, and this can't be helping.

Soubriquet · 25/10/2016 09:44

The colours are a lot better now

Thank you MNHQ

JessicaMumsnet · 25/10/2016 09:45

Good morning all, tech have just released the changes requested.

On mobile (and desktop if you haven't previously customised) you should now see;
The preferred darker set, green for OP and purple for own post.
We took note that folk preferred the purple of guest 4 for themselves so we swapped the proposed pink for own posts and purple for guest 4.

If that isn't the case for anyone please let us know and we'll flag to tech.
Flowers

What BestIsWest said (except Firefox on laptop, desktop site). Really dislike the pale pink for OP. I want my green OPs back please.

PumpkinOfLinus · 25/10/2016 09:55

I have a very dull beige for OPs. I hate it.

LadyConstanceDeCoverlet · 25/10/2016 10:01

Please, the green colour has gone a horrible luminous green that is painful to look at. What on earth was the point of changing from the previous version?

PuppyMonkey · 25/10/2016 10:02

I've gone a sort of light puce colour this morning. Sad

send help

JessicaMumsnet · 25/10/2016 10:02

@PumpkinOfLinus

I have a very dull beige for OPs. I hate it.

Would you mind letting us know what browser and device you're using please? Thanks

My posts are a horrible bag, I hate it.

Josian · 25/10/2016 10:06

OP posts on mine are suddenly pale pink - they've been a nice dark green until today. I don't like unsolicited change, and it's an unpleasant colour to boot... please fix :(

(Using Chrome on a Windows 10 laptop, if that's relevant.)

PuppyMonkey · 25/10/2016 10:07

I'm Chrome on a MacBook Air, how do I go green again please?

OddBoots · 25/10/2016 10:07

I am on a Windows 10 laptop using the Chrome browser and I have an odd salmon pink for the OP, it really isn't green.

Update to webchat guest colours
RatOnnaStick · 25/10/2016 10:12

I'm getting pink not purple for my own posts. And I've had customised colours for ages. I thought we could keep our own?

Ultimately I don't really mind what colour I have if you want us all to be the same I'll stop moaning, but this isn't the dusky purple of old, it's pink.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/10/2016 10:18

My eyes!!!!!

I had customised colours - muted green for OP and muted grey for me.

I now have vivid luminous green for OP and v unpleasant pinky colour for me. It is really an assault to the eyeballs.

ipad safari desktop site, if that makes any difference

Mintychoc1 · 25/10/2016 10:26

My lovely green for the OP has just changed to a horrible pale salmon pink. Yuk! I want my green back!!

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/10/2016 10:31

Just been in to 'customise' - can still change the colours but although the names of the colours are still the same they now look completely different! eg silver looks salmon pink.

SealSong · 25/10/2016 10:31

TOO BRIGHT!! Bright luminous green in my OP posts. Too much, hurting my eyes to read.

Please turn it down!!

Honestly why fuck around with things that don't need fixing when there are constant issues with the site eg porn pop ups that DO need dealing with

Fiderer · 25/10/2016 10:32

Heh? I had green for the OP and lavender for me. Checked Customise and that's still saved.

But now today I have sickly pink for the OP and lavender for me. Scrolling through fast to find the OP they are too alike.

Laptop, Chrome.

ageingrunner · 25/10/2016 10:33

Thanks MNHQ much better

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/10/2016 10:33

Same here! Give me back my forest green for the OP! That salmon pink is vomitous!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 25/10/2016 10:34

And again - WHY do you keep messing with stuff that DIDN'T NEED CHANGING?!

BlackeyedSusan · 25/10/2016 10:39

to be fair the webchat guest colour did need changing. it was vile.

I presuime they have mnicked the lovely green I used to highlight the op. can't find the op's posts now as they are insipid apricot.

Mummylin · 25/10/2016 10:40

I prefer the brighter colours but think the purple / pink is a bit too much
iPad , Safari

Superdinocharge · 25/10/2016 10:43

Thank you mumsnet! OP colour is much easier to see. Not the best colour choice but hey ho no complaints as its much better than off white!

TheNoodlesIncident · 25/10/2016 10:44

These colours are terrible on my pc screen, like my ds would have chosen them for me Sad

They really aren't faint or pale on my screen - if only

BoreOfWhabylon, I've been looking for Customise and can't find it, where is it please?
