App randomly shutting down.

It's been going on for a few weeks now, at first I thought it was because my phone (iPhone 5s) needed an update but I have since updated and it's still happening. Very annoying when I'm reading a thread and then it literally vanishes into thin air. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough for it to be an annoyance. The app opens up fine afterwards.

Just thought I'd let you guys know just in case there's an issue with the app.

Yes, this is happening a lot to me too. Also iPhone 5s.

Two or three times a day for the last few weeks and no pattern to it that I can see. On an iPad but it's still the iOS app.

Thanks Amy! If it's helpful at all, it happened just now after I'd wrote a post, submitted it and then was browsing. When I clicked on the app again the page where I'd been composing my reply (which id already sent and which had therefore closed) opened up first with all the text as if I still had to post it, and then within a few seconds automatically refreshed back to Active Threads. If that makes any sense. I thought it might give you a handle on what is happening technically. I will report this post so MNHQ see it.

Thank you! Forgot to mention that this also happens when writing a post. It happened just now actually as I was typing this reply. Can be annoying when you write out a well thought out post only for it to poof into thin air.

Can I ask you all whether it seems to be something that happens when you're viewing a bookmarked thread?

It happens on any thread as far as I can tell and also when I'm just browsing active threads.

I think it tends to be "threads I'm on". I don't tend to bookmark threads. I think it's happened on threads I was viewing on active threads that I've never looked at before though.

It's just done it again and I was on a thread I was viewing from active for the first time. And again it brought up the text of the previous post I'd made in the posting box for a few seconds.

What a relief to find it's not just my 5s ! Very annoying.

Oh - I also keep finding that Threads I'm On won't open, when other boards will.

It happens to me when reading threads. Been happening for a couple of weeks at least once a day. Can either be reading a comment or scrolling through topics on active. iPhone user also.

Closed down on me, abruptly, about an hour ago. I was just peaceably reading a thread and Whammo!

It's happening to me too, I thought it was my phone but only happens when I'm using MN. Phone goes black then starts up again a few minutes later. I use the mobile site.

About a couple of times a day for me at the moment.

2-4 times a day, screen goes black and then reopens with Talk screen but not where I was before.

Why are there so many issues? There's the ads, the porn pop ups which still aren't resolved judging by the number posters saying they are still getting them, it's mind numbingly slow and now keeps crashing

I'm not sure it's to do with the app precisely, Dame. It's beginning to look as if something is lacking in the whole site's ability to cope with traffic. (I'm guessing here.)

Maybe some of the techy types reading this board could give a view.

It's not the app as I don't use it,i just use the mobile site.

Happens to me too. iphone 5S as well.

Me too with an iPhone 6.
Pop ups taking me out of app into safari and whole app shutting down randomly.
