It's been going on for a few weeks now, at first I thought it was because my phone (iPhone 5s) needed an update but I have since updated and it's still happening. Very annoying when I'm reading a thread and then it literally vanishes into thin air. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough for it to be an annoyance. The app opens up fine afterwards.

Just thought I'd let you guys know just in case there's an issue with the app.

We're currently juggling fixing these bugs and building some new requested features, which means it's taking a bit longer than usual. According to our data, we only get around 20 crashes per day across the entire app, which makes it a bit harder to track down the bug. I'll let you know when I've had some progress - it must be very irritating!

Hey guys, thanks for reporting these crashes, we think we've managed to fix the main offenders and will be getting them out in a release very soon.

They've taken a while to fix because we haven't been able to reproduce them on any of our test devices. iOS 10 has also introduced a few more problems, so that may have contributed to some of your problems.

I'll let you know when a fix is released, and as always - your feedback will help us figure out if that's solved the problem.

Hi folks! So sorry this is till an issue. We know it's really annoying. And sorry to hear iOS10 hasn't changed anything for many of you. We will let you know when the fix is released though and fingers crossed that will make a difference. Thanks again for your patience.

Hey guys, we've just released v3.4 of the iOS Talk App, which includes these updates:

  • A new search feature, so you can search the entire Talk forum from the app. This is brand new technology, so we're expecting to need to tweak the way it works to improve the experience. Let us know if there are any issues or general feedback!
  • A load of bug fixes. I've been tracking over a dozen different bugs, and fixed some of the main offenders. Again - let me know if it's still crashing!

Now I'm done with search, my attention is fully focussed on fixing any additional iOS 10 bugs and analysing the battery usage of Mumsnet Talk.

Hmm, that is weird, ok thanks I'll look for different crashes. It's taking longer than usual because it's been impossible to recreate on our side. Should still be possible to fix though.

We've zeroed in on 80% of the crashes - they're caused by dodgy code in the adverts, Google have recently released a fix, and if everything goes to plan we'll have it submitted to Apple today.

We've released an updated build that we're hoping will fix the frequent crash in threads. I'm monitoring the crash reports - so I'll be able to see if it doesn't work soon...

Hey guys, apologies this is still happening Blush

In the last update we released for the app fixed the majority of crashes for most users, but we're still seeing around a hundred crashes per day (see the diagram). The majority of these crashes are caused by adverts, so take a little longer to find where the problem is coming from.

If all goes well, we'll be releasing a new build in the next week which should improve the performance of the app.

This is good to hear! We've had a dramatic reduction in crashes - we have reports confirming there are approx 10x less crashes since that release, and we'll do our best to keep that rate low.
