I Would Like To Propose A Solution To The Trans Threads Problem

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 22:08

Dear MNHQ, I am pissed off with all the Trans threads. I understand that you don't wish to stifle debate/free speech and all that shit, so I propose 4 threads where all trans posts can be hidden go.

A Fuck Trans thread. For posters who hate that people are trans.
A Yay Trans thread. For posters who wish to support trans people.
A Trans Bunfight Club thread. For posters on the other two threads who want to have a bit of a ruck.
And a What MNHQ Have To Say About Trans Threads thread. For, well I think you get my drift.

All other trans posts on the site can be deleted, no other threads can be started and I can enjoy the site more.

Grinopening a thread and realising it's not that interesting is hardly that difficult. Seriously you all must have children or jobs or gasp both. You must be able to handle the five seconds of not immediate gratification

leccybill · 31/08/2016 23:38

Topical, you say?
Away from MN, I didn't even know it was a thing. Literally no-one in my real life has ever mentioned it.

Is there a big equivalent trans forum out there- I take it there's not and that's why people have found a home here? Will it pass, do MNHQ think?

CoteDAzur · 31/08/2016 23:40

"threads which look like they're not trans related until you open them, it's too late by then."

Too late for what? Does the thread shoot you when you open it?

Surely all you lose is one second before you move on.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 31/08/2016 23:41

Would also like to see a Trans topic for all the threads to go into. The argument that the trans debate affects all women and therefore should be flagged everywhere for traffic is countered by the fact that Brexit affected everyone but an EU referendum topic now exists.
Thanks.

I still can't find it in my heart to feel too sorry for people who
1 - spend a second clicking into a thread
2 - spend a second clicking out

Not that much of an ordeal.

Sparklingbrook · 31/08/2016 23:48

Plus the extra few seconds hiding it. And a few seconds doing the Hmm face.

CoteDAzur · 31/08/2016 23:51

Childbirth affects everyone. Health affects everyone. They each have their own topics. That's not the point.

Nobody goes on Childbirth and Health threads saying that their eyes are opened to these issues, that they had no idea about any of it before. In trans threads, there is always someone who says exactly this.

Trans threads of the past couple of years have opened many people's eyes , which is how we just saw nearly 1,000 MNers opposing transactivist agenda on the I Am Spartacus thread.

If you are not interested, just don't click on those threads.

TwentyCups · 31/08/2016 23:52

I meant 'too late' in response to 'don't open it'.
Tbh that's less an issue for me. I'm more bothered when people start arguing/saying inflammatory (but not necessarily report worthy) stuff on completely random topics - see above what I said about my own thread that ended up with an unpleasant comment on it.

CoteDAzur · 31/08/2016 23:52

"he extra few seconds hiding it. And a few seconds doing the Hmm face."

Few seconds more to roll your eyes, you say? Stop, you'll make me cry.

Will you be OK?

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/08/2016 23:53

Oh it is an ordeal 7days. It is very much an ordeal. Like when one of my Exs used to pretend to sing/play a good song but turned it into Mull of Kintyre 6 bars in.

Anyway, what I am proposing would be really helpful to those who wish to discuss trans stuff. Everything would be easily found and commented on in whichever of the 4 proposed threads that suit.

7Days · 31/08/2016 23:53

But that's Other People for you.
They will talk utter shite about stuff you are not interested in.

Sparklingbrook · 31/08/2016 23:54

I will be absolutely fine thanks Cote don't you worry.

7Days · 31/08/2016 23:54

Pshaw Dione. You are made of sterner stuff than that.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 31/08/2016 23:55

No. Because it's not as simple as 'fuck trans' vs 'yay trans': you have to have a 'hmm, can we just have a think about trans' first.

Also is it me or is this thread itself 'yet another trans thread '?

I don't so much Hmm Sparkling as rock gently, stroking my own face and soothingly whispering "shh, there there Dione, there there, it's alright, everything is Ok".

DP is the one who ends up doing the Hmm face.

"what I am proposing would be really helpful to those who wish to discuss trans stuff. Everything would be easily found and commented on in whichever of the 4 proposed threads that suit."

Why limit that to trans threads? We should have 1 thread for breastfeeding vs formula feeding, 1 thread for buggies on busses, 1 thread for prams in disabled loos, etc. It's not like anything new is being said on those topics.

Except that it would drastically reduce the volume on MN and that would mean much lower ad revenue. Somehow I don't think MNHQ will go for your proposal there, Dione.

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2016 00:00

Grin Dione.

I would love to have one thread for certain Groundhog Day topics especially the BF/FF stuff. They always end up the same.

CoteDAzur · 01/09/2016 00:01

Good to hear that you'll get over having to spend a few seconds pulling a face, Sparkling. I know it's tough. Upwards and onwards.

I don't know about Dione, though. "Rocking gently, stroking my own face"?

This thread is a revelation. I would have never guessed that it's so easy to push people to the edge of a mental breakdown.

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2016 00:03

I am not on MN much any more Cote, it just isn't worth it.

paxillin · 01/09/2016 00:04

It worked for the sporners. Been a long time since I saw someone squeeze unspeakables from nether regions by accidental click.

CoteDAzur · 01/09/2016 00:05

Well, you can always come back in the future, if/when you feel less fragile.

DioneTheDiabolist · 01/09/2016 00:21

The FF/BF threads were the Trans threads of about 7 years ago Sparkling. I'm Sad you're not here so much I love your sparkly brookiness.

Aw Cote, your concern is touching.💕 But you don't need to worry about me, I have this self soothing stuff nailed.

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 01/09/2016 00:24

That's good to hear, Dione.

I know that it is absolutely devastating to have to see a thread on a subject you are not interested in, but at least you can self-soothe. That's great.

Sparklingbrook · 01/09/2016 00:29

Aww thanks.I find it's quite hard to join in on MN at the moment Dione so I have sort of stopped trying to to a certain extent. Just seems like hard work.
