Why does the desktop site page keep jumping around?! It's driving me crazy!

I have an adblocker, so I'm guessing it's because of ads. I have no header, the MN logo is still not back (Why not?) but now the fecking page keeps jumping, taking far too long to get into position, so that I think I'm clicking on one thing and then end up clicking on something entirely different as the page jumps down.

I have about 3" of white space at the top of my page (hence thinking it must be something to do with ads) - but WHY must the page JUMP??

The site is becoming hugely frustrating with all this jumping and resultant mis-clicking!

Please do something about it (and bring back the logo, goddammit!)

I have an adblocker so don't know which ads, but can confirm it happens on every forum page I open, whether it be the active conversations list, a particular board's thread list and on threads

BitOutOfPractice · 02/07/2016 17:36

I've turned ad blocker off to check and yes, it still jumps.

"We can certainly speed it up which might make it less noticeable and you less liable to miss-click". Erm then I would have thought that's a no-brainer to do that then Confused

dogdrifts · 02/07/2016 17:41

Doing it to me too. No ad blocker and I'm using an iPad. Fecking annoying as I keep ending up on threads I didn't want due to the delay in the jump.

RebeccaMumsnet · 04/07/2016 11:29

Hi all,

Tech has put in a fix to try and help this today, can you let us know how you get on please? Is it still as jumpy?
Any feedback would be great.

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 04/07/2016 12:18

absolutely no change here...jumping all present and correct.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 04/07/2016 12:23

Still jumping here too. As much as ever, and as slowly as ever.

alwaysme22 · 04/07/2016 12:26

Well, for me it has stopped jumping and I have probably just jinxed myself !

alwaysme22 · 04/07/2016 14:21

That didn't last long! What I noticed whilst it stopped jumping was that the god awful wrap around ads and big banner ad at top had gone.

Wrap around ads back and it's jumping again. Oh well :(

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 04/07/2016 14:29

I have discovered, however, that threads I go to via 'threads I'm on' don't seem to jump so far (though fairly small sample and I could be wrong). Everything else still jumps - topic lists, threads I go to in the normal way by clicking on them, threads I get to via active, etc.

fuckweasel · 04/07/2016 15:11

Still jumpy!

WingDefence · 04/07/2016 15:48

Still jumpy here :/

ShamTech · 04/07/2016 17:43

Hi all. We found a definite source of the page jumping and have now made a fix. Please do report back here if you're still having issues. Thanks for your patience and help.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 04/07/2016 18:38

Still jumping. (Firefox on a desktop Mac)

SilkandSteel · 04/07/2016 18:39

No change here, still jumping

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 04/07/2016 18:52

guess what??

still happening!

ShamTech · 05/07/2016 11:03

As far as I can see, the only remaining thing that makes the page jump is when the large size ad appears at the top of the page. I've recorded this short video to illustrate.

If you are seeing the page jumping around and it's not related to the large ad at the top, I'd be grateful if you could record it somehow (maybe with your phone pointed at your computer screen) and email it through to us.

Thanks

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 05/07/2016 19:53

i shall try to video....

ShamTech · 06/07/2016 16:36

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia thanks for the videos. It looks like your adblocker is switched on which is why you get the blank space at the top of the page and also why the system is confused about what size ad is being served.

Could you please see if you still have this problem on every single page when your adblocker is switched off, as there's not much we can do if it's switched on.

Thanks again for taking the time to record the videos. Much appreciated.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 03/08/2016 15:08

Still jumping around.
Yes I do still have the adblocker activated but fgs, it's infuriating! Angry

Well, I have never used an ad blocker but it jumps regardless. I have come to the conclusion that this will never be fixed, so hard luck us!

It's caused by the adverts and unfortunately they are more important than us.
