Why does the desktop site page keep jumping around?! It's driving me crazy!

I have an adblocker, so I'm guessing it's because of ads. I have no header, the MN logo is still not back (Why not?) but now the fecking page keeps jumping, taking far too long to get into position, so that I think I'm clicking on one thing and then end up clicking on something entirely different as the page jumps down.

I have about 3" of white space at the top of my page (hence thinking it must be something to do with ads) - but WHY must the page JUMP??

The site is becoming hugely frustrating with all this jumping and resultant mis-clicking!

Please do something about it (and bring back the logo, goddammit!)

Just checking whether the tech team have simply given up trying to solve this problem?

It's been going on for well over 2 months now.

As much as I've mostly got used to it, it's still infuriating when I keep ending up opening the wrong thread, because the page has jumped as soon as it stops loading.

NorbertDentressangle · 01/05/2016 18:08

I'm bumping this again too as , like Worra said, it's still happening and is still bloody infuriating.

northender · 01/05/2016 19:09

Same here on desktop & Firefox

BIWI · 02/05/2016 10:35

It seems to be the ad that runs across the top of the page. It looks like they're too big for the holding space, so when it loads completely it makes the page jump down.

Or at least that's the experience I'm having.

(Laptop/Safari/Mac)

BIWI · 02/05/2016 10:35

Oh, and it does it with or without adblocker.

Lweji · 02/05/2016 10:38

I don't have any problems on Chrome.

no add blocker, though.

zanuda · 04/05/2016 13:40

Oh, it's all because the loading time. It takes like couple of minutes to load all the elements on the page, every time something is already loaded, all other elements readjust its positions - hence the jumping. Whoever did new design really should work on minimising the loading time of ll the elements.

BIWI · 07/05/2016 20:02

Please, please, please do something about this! It's hugely irritating!

Driving me nuts!!!! Come on MN it's been going on for ages! Angry

Sparklingbrook · 09/05/2016 08:14

I am on Chrome with an adblocker and it's really annoying. you click on a thread, everything moves down and it opens a thread three threads up.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 09/05/2016 08:18

It happens to me and I don't have ad blocker.

On an iPad with safari.

Sometimes it's worse than others but some days it's so bad I give up as I can't click on the right thread.

BertPuttocks · 09/05/2016 10:53

It's still doing it.

Desktop site, on Chrome, and no ad-blockers.

The page loads nicely, then there's a couple of seconds lag while the advert at the top of the screen loads, and then it all jumps down so that the cursor is three or four threads higher than it was before.

Scone1nSixtySeconds · 09/05/2016 11:17

I dont use adblocker and it is beginning to drive me bananas.

Ipad, safari, ios 9.3.1

BertPuttocks · 09/05/2016 13:40

The enormous advert (currently Pampers) at the top of the Active Conversations page is the main culprit.

Why is it so much bigger than the adverts at the top of the other pages?

GinBunny · 22/05/2016 00:07

Ok, I ignored this thread when it was active because I thought enough had posted about it but it is still happening and really pissing me off now. Anyone else still experiencing it? Any update MN?

Same here.

I have whitelisted MN in the past from my adblocker but fairly often I get "script errors" with adblock disabled and it makes my whole browser slow. So you get blocked again.

I'm happy to support the site via advertising but not at the expense of my entire web browsing experience.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/05/2016 15:59

Another one here getting really fed up of this

alwaysme22 · 25/05/2016 16:56

Same here, pages jumping down so you start reading and it's gone. Then "a script on this page has stopped working" all freeze literally. Not surprising really, there must be that many slugging it out behind the scenes that finally one is knocked out cold. And, to add insult to injury that bloody purple bar creeps up from the bottom and blocks the text there.

Mumsnet is turning into a site for adverts, not parents!

DawnMumsnet · 26/05/2016 11:33

So sorry that this problem is still ongoing. Sad

Our Tech team are still working on this - we've asked them for another update and will report back as soon as possible.

bookbook · 26/05/2016 22:40

Mine stopped jumping around when I updated a week ago. Thought that had fixed it. But tonight its started again... slow message box, and jerky scrolling.
Macbook and chrome

plasticboxesrock · 28/05/2016 12:41

Happening to me too, very very annoying. On Chromebase and also laptop using Chrome with adblock extension.
While I'm at it, does the mobile app allow use without ads? I use safari on ipad but get annoyed by ads.

bookbook · 28/05/2016 23:02

plastic - don't know if this would help you, but I shut down and restarted my computer, and the jerkiness disappeared. However, now I think back, thats what happened when I updated last week...
