Why does the desktop site page keep jumping around?! It's driving me crazy!

I have an adblocker, so I'm guessing it's because of ads. I have no header, the MN logo is still not back (Why not?) but now the fecking page keeps jumping, taking far too long to get into position, so that I think I'm clicking on one thing and then end up clicking on something entirely different as the page jumps down.

I have about 3" of white space at the top of my page (hence thinking it must be something to do with ads) - but WHY must the page JUMP??

The site is becoming hugely frustrating with all this jumping and resultant mis-clicking!

Please do something about it (and bring back the logo, goddammit!)

That's what I'm wondering too, magi! It's still driving me bananas, but I'm fucked if I'm switching my adblocker off just because of it.

It would be really nice if Techs addressed the problem though.

Yep that thought occurred to me too. It won't happening though, I'm more likely to ditch Mumsnet if they don't get it sorted out soon

DawnMumsnet · 29/02/2016 18:33

So sorry to hear this is still a problem for many of you.

We know that our Tech and Ads teams are still trying to address this issue. If anyone hasn't posted to say which device etc. they're using, please list below. At the moment, it seems to be happening across the board though. Sad

Again, we know this is a royal pain and we're really sorry.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/03/2016 12:11

Thanks DawnMN - hopefully we'll get some resolution soon.

AdriftOnMemoryBliss · 02/03/2016 09:34

laptop and chrome here.

adblock plus installed.

its VERY annoying!!

magimedi · 02/03/2016 16:09

Desktop + firefox.

Any news?

magimedi · 07/03/2016 19:38

Still going on - is this a 'subtle' way of wanting us all to take off ad blocker??

If so, why don't you say so?

magimedi · 09/03/2016 13:49

I know I am nagging but is there any resolution to this problem?

I'm now getting a double jump - I'm waiting till the page jumps down, try and click on a thread, but there's a second jump, so I still end up on a thread about something I have no interest in Sad.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 09/03/2016 15:55

Blimey, isn't it a bit much to moan about this when you have an ad blocker? You want your site for free and you also want not to be inconvenienced by the ads you choose to block?

Extraordinary!!

magimedi · 09/03/2016 15:58

Oh I'm not moaning about it re ad blocker, bibbity, I just want to know if it is a glitch or will be here for ever. If the latter I know I can turn off ad blocker.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 09/03/2016 16:26

I'm not singling you out in particular magi.

I have an ad blocker and if this page jumping thing is to do with that then I say fair enough.

On another note, I'm absolutely thrilled to bits that those horrendously annoying picture pop-ups (pregnant woman with blown out cheeks, dog covered in spaghetti, woman in rollers shaving her face) have finally gone. What a relief!

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 13/03/2016 09:17

Is there likely to be any resolution to this situation, MNHQ/Techs? Because it's still driving me bats...

I haven't got ad blocker but I have been having lots of problems on Firefox where I keep getting a message saying a script needs to be debugged. If I click yes nothing happens and then I have to go into manager to shut it down.

Not quite so bad with Chrome.

JacksSkellington · 13/03/2016 20:15

This is also driving me frikkin' nuts and has been for a good few weeks now.

lamiashiro · 13/03/2016 20:17

I'm having the same issue on desktop with Chrome, with adblocker. Extremely annoying.

nemno · 13/03/2016 21:14

I finally came to look and see if others had this problem that is driving me to use MN less, I usually assume it is just me. Desktop and Chrome here, with adblocker.

JillyTheDependableBoot · 17/03/2016 11:57

Any update on this, HQ? I turned adblocker off for a while but then the full-screen ads were so annoying I turned it back on and the screen is still jumping Sad

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 17/03/2016 15:23

yeah, still happening here too. I get the point that they want us not to use adblocker, but to be honest, I'm just not using the site as much anymore as a result, because I just keep ending up in the wrong thread if I don't use it, and I get annoyed by the ads in the way if I do. It wasn't doing it just a couple of weeks ago, so it must be something that has recently changed. It still happens after this new update with the changed font, as well. The ads load slowly, and you have to wait forever til they're finished and the page jumps, and then you can click on something. Putting me off using the site.

SecretScwirrels · 19/03/2016 12:19

I'm a bit late to this thread but I have this screen jumping problem. In my case it only started when the new fonty upgrade came in. I have no problem with the font but the jumping is awful. I am on windows laptop with Firefox and I have Adblock plus. No way am I going to get rid of my ad blocker, I hope that's not the only solution as I'm wavering over giving up on MN already.

SilkandSteel · 20/03/2016 17:09

Is this issue with the pages jumping ever going to be resolved MNHQ? If it is something we just have to live with as a result of having an adblocker installed, can you at least be honest and say so?

SecretScwirrels · 20/03/2016 17:57

Well I deactivated the ad blocker to see what happened and the jumping continued.

MamaYoyo · 20/03/2016 20:02

This has been happening to me too. But I don't have an ad blocker. I'm using Android chrome and the mobile site. It's been driving me crazy.

TheSilveryPussycat · 20/03/2016 23:40

Yes mine started when the font change came in. (I even mentioned it on the related thread) Firefox, on Windows 7, PC, adblocker.
