What happened yesterday?

I can't find any explanation of why mn was down. With the odd redirect and the history of the site over the summer, it would be rather good to have an explanation please.

I've just been unable to access my for the past hr or so as well. Dcs watching TV, this is my guilt-free time!

Couldn't access MN for a couple of hours from approx 5.00pm to now, not sure if it's me or you as when I tried another site I had a strange message about security and the possibility of someone trying to mine my data.

When attempting to access MN all I got was a blank page. I shut down and cleared cookies, etc., tried again and the still a blank page, after this tried another site and got the above message.

Shut down again and tried the other site - no problems and now can access MN again.

On Desktop Site using Google Chrome.

I've had a white-out (refreshing active convos) and was unable to get on for a little while this evening. But I closed down safari, waited a bit, and it came back.

I couldn't get in just now either.

Ah of course they may have been coming back over from a failover. You'd think clustering could have avoided that though.

I also struggled this evening with the app around 5-7. I gave up and am using the laptop which is much easier.

The entire database being erased.
Feel ill at the thought.

I never said it was odd to to be curious to ask about the technical issues, I said it was odd that people were expecting to be told/demanding to be given an explanation.

I know someone who meant to delete the database in the development server, pressed enter, realised he was on the production server and then noticed he'd typed drip database. Saved by fat fingers! He needed to go sit in a quiet room by himself for a while after that - one hell of an emotional roller coaster.

Yikes. I am a DBA. Some scary stories here.

I'm still getting the Tech error message whenever I click on Threads I'm on.

I deleted history but still getting the problem.

AIBU isn't there for me, but is appearing in "trending", so is obviously there for some people. If I click on a thread from "trending" in aibu, I can read that thread only but not get to the main AIBU.

Agree that asking politely is one thing, but the 'demand an explanation' 'right to know' type stuff is tiresome. Feel free to set up a better and more reliable site yourself if you would be able to show us all how it's done. For no pay until you make it pay by gaining the rep, of course.

Can't get Active Conversations on the Mobile Site just keeps coming up with the error message from last night.

Threads I'm watching still brings on error message. Have logged out, reset password and it still happens. I think it isn't me, it's you

I get the message when I click on the active button at the bottom of my iPhone screen.

If I go to Mumsnet, then talk, then active threads it's fine though.
