I can't find any explanation of why mn was down. With the odd redirect and the history of the site over the summer, it would be rather good to have an explanation please.

Hmm, have just cleared my cache as I was getting the 'not working' page, now I only have this page, every other MN page is blank.
I'm worried to refresh incase I lose this.

Just been thrown out again for about 15 mins - 502 Bad Gateway

Now managed to get back but had to sign in again and v v slooow

Just had the same - couldn't log in - tried a couple of times -looked at a couple of sites came back and tried again and got straight back in -didn't need to sign in etc.
(I use a script blocker ...don't know if that is relevant or not)
Haven't cleared my cache etc -so it wasn't a cache problem
Wished I'd screen shot the page cos it was a 'posh ' error page - not just the one line but two boxes with info and a name beginning with X or E or something...

MrsUltra if you come out of private browsing and go back to normal browsing everything should still be there.

"Threads I'm on" isn't working for me - I just get the site down message. Anyone else?

I'm using an iPhone 6 to view the mobile site.

MrsUltra, as Norbert said, if you come out of private, your usual settings will still be there.

If you could tweet the odd chirpy thing once an hour (not necessarily even talking about tech) during outages it would be very reassuring for the MN addict community. It felt like a black hole yesterday. I imagined this alternative universe where you had just evaporated and that was it. Nothingness.

Thank you for updating. The only concern I had was if it was another attack.
Jeffery will have noticed that the site was down and claimed it was him regardless of what it actually was.
As for the people getting shitty, it's a free site that is nice to have, that's all.

I've just cleared my iphone cache to get back to a working Active page (hurrah!) but it seems to have brought back the horrid problem from last week where Active won't load properly and is causing safari to freeze :-(

You do all know that the reason MN went down, and that there were no posts on the Facebook page or their Twitter feed was because they were having a massive party, don't you?

Someone accidentally sat on a keyboard and their arse managed to press Ctrl-Alt-Del by mistake ...

It's easily done

When I tried to come to the site through www.mumsnet.com I got the 'site temp down' message, but when I clicked on the twitter link in desperation I came through to the site and found you all hanging out, alive and well and not down at all. Confused
