What happened yesterday?

I can't find any explanation of why mn was down. With the odd redirect and the history of the site over the summer, it would be rather good to have an explanation please.

I've had problems accessing MN for over a week from my iPhone. I tweeted MN asking if MN was broken again over a week ago and didn't get a response. That's fine, people miss stuff, but it suggests to me an underlying problem.

I only got on MN tonight because I happened to look at MN on FB and scrolled way down looking for clues as to why MN is offline.

I get the 'sorry site is down' message when I try just logging on on my PC. Until I went on FB I had no idea MN was back

Found a bug. Will report it as it's replicable

This does sound like a cache issue. Info on how to clear you cache on different browsers

Not having a problem today - but been doing stuff in Rl today I got the same thing as moab - that was the layout of the error I was trying to describe in my post at Tue 22-Sep-15 12:03:53 (E/X/I what's the difference) - and it was trying to access the page through my bookmark (in Firefox) which is 'threads I'm on'. Definitely something funky going on yesterday - I also had a blue screen on my laptop (didn't notice the error as it auto reboots) when I tried to go to sleep mode (might be a coincidence but not had one for a year) and Firefox crashed on my tablet...when I was looking at MN...

Any better today unlucky?

This is probably the wrong thread - because it is related to JeffHackergate:

People have de-registered and re-registered again, are their previous user names now available

if so, a search on that name won't show the history or indicate the authenticity of that poster. I have seen one that I believe is being 're-used' by someone else. I have reported to MNHQ.

If you dereg, your Talk NN will not be available again. We can reassign them but it is a big job and we tend not to without really really good reason.

MN I still cant access from google search. It just goes to the page that says its temporarily down. I am having to log on through the link provided by MN yesterday in the facebook link

If you clear your cache (see above post) it should work again.

I de-regged and re-regged with a different Email address when hackergate was going on.

So this is classed as a new account. I have been put on New so I have no options to customise anything at all.

I have just had the default colour for OPs and my posts since I re-regged.

Now I only have the OPs opening post in a different colour.

Although MNHQs posts are still blue.

You should still have highlighting, although in the default colours.

We did change things so that new posters cannot use classic and don't have as many options because we are slowly phasing them out due to the vast movement of people to mobile over the last few years. It is technically unsustainable to have so many customisable options and also the reading down to 1000 posts was slowing the site for everyone.

We know this isn't what you want to hear but we have tried to keep as much as we can without changing things too much.

Rebecca I always clear everything automatically on closing down. Have done I manually and still nothing. When I put in a search for MN it goes to the broken page

Like mathanxiety the only way I can access MN is through the link you put on facebook to this page the other day. Thanks for helping,

I still can't access 'Threads I'm watching', (get the error message) only 'Threads I'm on' I have alerted MN and they have said they would tell Tech, but that was over 24 hours ago.

No reply to me HQ? Why are my posts sometimes invisible as I type them?

cant get on with my ipad , but can on the laptop ?
dont know why or how , but like the ipad version as its easier for me
