Mumsnet ads

So, as you've noticed we got a new bunch of people supplying us with ads on a kind of loop if we don't sell the space. Probably time for a discussion on what we can live with and what we can't. Especially as I'm at a wedding tomorrow and then on hols for 2 weeks and won't have to be involved .
So tell us who you a) dislike b) can't bear c) veto or you're off.

(Over to you Olivia!)

I'd be fine with it if it's lots of dosh and I only get it once, although I'd probably get it once a month as I clean up my desktop quite regularly including getting rid of cookies.

JessaJam · 21/09/2006 23:01

Sod it, why not!?

I had spotted a couple of glaring new ads that made me pull a snooty-cow-face and mentally 'tsk' (think one was for something like bingo/lottery or online poker type dealy maybe?). Not bothered enough to kick off about it though...

hunkermunker · 21/09/2006 23:02

I'm uneasy with pop-ups - but I love MN.

Pixiefish · 21/09/2006 23:04

take the money Justine.

We had one before for Disneyworld Paris didn't we? See advertisers- advertising on MN works

Twiglett · 21/09/2006 23:23

I find the University of Phoenix ad hilariously badly targeted

Milge · 21/09/2006 23:26

As long as it only comes up once , but in these litigious days, take the money!

CarolinaMoon · 22/09/2006 00:50

just once eh?

oh go on then

suzywong · 22/09/2006 00:55

I can't see any ads at all apart from teh GLTco on to the right

Am I lucky or is it just cos I'm foreign now?

JustineMumsnet · 22/09/2006 09:46

Thanks everyone for the input. This particular campaign is only due to run for a month - how about we use it as a test case and then we can see just how irritating or otherwise it is. You never know we might all love it .

MNHQ have barred you from seeing the ads Suzy, just in case it kicks off.

hunkermunker · 22/09/2006 12:50

Oh, go on then, Justine

I love that you ask us all and take notice of what we day, really love it.

Tis a very sensible parenting technique

JustineMumsnet · 08/11/2006 17:33

Ok so next tricky question... We've been asked if we'll host some ads promoting Macdonalds' new microsite, which informs parents about such things as their ingredients and where they source them - the microsite is called Make Up Your Own Mind.
So what do you think? Is it a no way Jose! or I don't give a stuff?

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 08/11/2006 17:34

I don't give a stuff - I have read stuff recently (non McDonald's promotion) that said that they have improved their ingredients recently - but in all honestly I don't care!

WelshBoris · 08/11/2006 17:35

Its been really nice knowing you Justine, I wish you the best of luck

deegward · 08/11/2006 17:37

Information is good, I think. I think people should make informed choices about things, so accept. IMHO

lulumama · 08/11/2006 17:37

mcdonalds.......will that be followed by a greggs sausage roll ad?

FrannyonFire · 08/11/2006 17:37

I would really rather not have McDonalds ads, Justine.

Thank you for asking us.

lulumama · 08/11/2006 17:39

what franny said...she was more polite than me.....

FWIW...if people really want to find out about mcdonalds food..then there are plenty other websites they can look at.......

WriggleJiggle · 08/11/2006 17:40

Ooops, hadn't really noticed the ads. Iknow there's some text across the top saying 'the official shop for grobags', but I couldn't tell you what ads I've seen .

Been typing with my eyes shut obviously.

yeahinaminute · 08/11/2006 17:44

No I disagree - If it isn't a "come to maccy D's and eat your own weight in saturated fat, put on 17stone and turn your kids in to fat bloaters" then fine especially if it is informative and a "making your mind up" promo ...... any way we can see a preview, maybe??

HRHQueenOfQuotes · 08/11/2006 17:45

I presume this is the website they'll be advertising.

NotAnOtter · 08/11/2006 17:46

hmm i agree with Franny - but maybe a short term stint would be ok- to swell the coffers and then begone!
On the whole though McD's not my bag

yeahinaminute · 08/11/2006 17:50

If that's the promo site HRHQoQ linked then fine by me .... and I have never had a MacDonalds - honest, hand on heart
