Mumsnet ads

So, as you've noticed we got a new bunch of people supplying us with ads on a kind of loop if we don't sell the space. Probably time for a discussion on what we can live with and what we can't. Especially as I'm at a wedding tomorrow and then on hols for 2 weeks and won't have to be involved .
So tell us who you a) dislike b) can't bear c) veto or you're off.

(Over to you Olivia!)

Robbie can stay

fuzzywuzzy · 10/08/2006 23:58

I'm feeling vaguely upset about this I've only gotten the jojomaman advert.... and I'm afraid I can't get terribly worked up about it (although that woman in the lotus position is getting on my nerves a bit)

Quootiepie · 10/08/2006 23:59

I have P & O aswell now

Quootiepie · 10/08/2006 23:59

gawd, everyone wants a piece now!

ledodgyrobespierre · 11/08/2006 00:00

I have boden at the side and ultralase and uni of liverpool interchangeably (is that a word) at the top.

UrsulatheSeawitch · 11/08/2006 00:01

fw, ultralase and U of L (and presumably the 4x4) are right at the top of the page, above jojommbb (scroll up!)

ledodgyrobespierre · 11/08/2006 00:01

Oh and now a samsung mobile.

lemonaid · 11/08/2006 00:01

Oooh, I've got O2 now. Not offended by it yet.

fuzzywuzzy · 11/08/2006 00:01

I have I have.....seriously...maybe my filters are just wonderful or something....

MamaMaiasaura · 11/08/2006 00:02

Can we have ads for sexy men sites..

snort

lemonaid · 11/08/2006 00:03

You might have a banner ad blocker in place.

WorldFamousAuthorMolotov · 11/08/2006 00:03

I'd like to see and ad for the Daily Mail

can you fix Jim?

fuzzywuzzy · 11/08/2006 00:05

aha are these offending ads pop ups?? They're blocked on my computer... no wonder nothing offends me

lemonaid · 11/08/2006 00:06

No, they're not popups (I have those blocked too) but there are Mystic Internet Ways of filtering out banner ads too. I keep meaning to do them but not getting round to it.

fuzzywuzzy · 11/08/2006 00:07

I have mystic internet ways how quaint (and I never knew...)

Ladymuck · 11/08/2006 00:09

Justine - do they list categories that they can be from - perhaps if you identified the options for us then we can start the nit-picking?

Quootiepie · 11/08/2006 00:09

ooooh, prudential! this is exciting...

MrsSpoon · 11/08/2006 00:12

Euro Tunnel now.

Tortington · 11/08/2006 01:03

am not arsed. its capitalism at its best.

keep shte site running, makes you some money, pays the wages - shit i'd have an add on mi arse if it paid enough

aitch71ababe · 11/08/2006 01:11

well there's a thought, custy. i take it that you wouldn't be as obliging with your bare arse if Mumsnet need a banner for some sort of free speech protest? it might make the Daily Mail.

as for the ads, i don't like the 4x4 ads but i don't think that it's any of my business how the site is funded. take the money, i say.

Tortington · 11/08/2006 01:15

i'd have mumsnet tattoes on mi arse if they coughed up a lot of money

aitch71ababe · 11/08/2006 01:22

you know, you could really do that tastefully... , in sanskrit perhaps, like David beckham?

saw your post about the theatre trip etc, you must be very proud.

NedKelly1978 · 11/08/2006 07:14

I have no probs, glad tech sorted out so ads werent appearing first though! thank you tech.

LadyTophamHatt · 11/08/2006 07:17

I'm really not bothered what is advertised, I hardly take any notice of them TBH.

However I have thought some choices have been abit odd. The aptimal one for example...that was bound to cause a row. And the 4x4 one too to a lesser extent.

JustineMumsnet · 11/08/2006 07:29

Should just mention before I head off that currently our stated position to the folk who provide these ads for us (nb they provide ads for lots of sites - ads are not really Mumsnet specific) is: no formula milk ads, no Nestle, no porn, no political. So the question is, are there any other category/ company folks feel particularly strongly about?
Thanks,
MNHQ
