Am I allowed to promote my own?

Wrote a lengthy follow-on summary on my own blog this morning:

Pewari's Prattle

CaligulaCorday · 09/08/2006 09:57

I can't believe how many orgs have reported that rocket comment with a straight face.

They know damn well the context that remark must have been made in, but they choose to ignore context in favour of the shock factor.

It's reminded me why I believe nothing!

CodGuevara · 09/08/2006 09:59

you cna tell its silly season
think we have had our day - they are on to macca now

morningpaper · 09/08/2006 10:09

[GeorginaA:]
"... the quote most often used in the popular press yesterday is fairly obviously meant to be satire and not to be taken seriously even OUT of context (by the way, in context it was even funnier and could actually be argued to be defending Ms Ford as it was parodying previous debates and how silly they had become)."

EXACTLY, GeorginaA.

Your blog is my favourite.

GeorginaA · 09/08/2006 10:11

morningpaper So glad your apology made the mumsnet statement too - am going to print that out myself and paste it on the wall

VoltaireHadCheesyFeet · 09/08/2006 10:17

Nemo1977 · 09/08/2006 10:24

babyonboard · 09/08/2006 10:28

....I wish I had a blog!

(seize the day BoB..seize the day..)

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 09/08/2006 10:30

"That being the case, a good PR company would arguably achieve more than legal action" wise words indeed. Advice I am not going to heed myself, however - I am feeling mightily offended at being called a bored parent or an adoring housewife and I'm off to find a lawyer to write a letter to the Times to demand they shut down their website. (with no offence to bored parents or adoring housewives, I hasten to add)

LemonTart · 09/08/2006 10:31

monrningpaper you are just too funny! I am crying with laughter over your descriptive powers. If I didn?t know better I would think that you are my own brother (who is a journalist for a national gutter paper and wickedly accurate in his wild verbal illustrations)!
That blog that describes your comments as being so OTT that they should be beyond defammatory is spot on. Not sure about the American Eric blog though
Loving this thread...

WorldFamousAuthor · 09/08/2006 10:32

have emailed GMTV after reading her statement

MerlinsBeard · 09/08/2006 10:37

i think this needs to be steered away from the author now and more emphasis made on the freedom of speech thing. after all, derogatory personal comments were made which, when asked, were removed which is fair enough. The issue now is the fact that we cannot have any mention of the author. this is generating publicity for her and i know taht lots of people will not have heard of her until this all happened.

MerlinsBeard · 09/08/2006 10:40

just read GeorginaA's blog and she says it better than me!

morningpaper · 09/08/2006 10:43

GeorginaA is my new PR person

Please see her if you have any questions

p.s. Sorry for offending (7) the Jewish Community (8) the American people.

piglit · 09/08/2006 10:44

"As I have repeatedly made clear to Mumsnet, I have no objection whatsoever to people discussing or disagreeing with my advice and methods concerning childcare. "

How about this for quote of the week?

WorldFamousAuthor · 09/08/2006 10:47

loving Sarah Ebner's article in The Times

LemonTart · 09/08/2006 10:53

AmhatmaGhandi · 09/08/2006 11:13

This just made me howl GeorginaA....

"Again, no comment except to say, remember the adage about a woman scorned? Well, 60,000 women are currently a bit pissed off?"

LieselVonTrapp · 09/08/2006 11:20

I didnt realise subject was childless. Anyway Im gonna shut up now before they gag me :gagged:
mmmmmmm

babyonboard · 09/08/2006 11:23

I have just been reading on the moneysavingexpert website that they remove any discussions relating to carole vorderman after a similar incident..eeeeeenteresting!

Iklboo · 09/08/2006 11:34

Wait a minute...childless??

So how can a person be an expert then? It's like me writing a book on how to build your own house. I might have some cracking ideas, but they ain't necessarily right are they??

Suggest we each send person a child to look after for a week. All at once.

fairyjay · 09/08/2006 11:39

I think it might be Cilla off Corrie in disguise.

Iklboo · 09/08/2006 11:43

Good article on BBC website www.bbc.co.uk
