In what circumstances would this happen MNHQ?

A poster's entire history being deleted 'at poster's request'.

I realise it has happened when there have been serious issues regarding someone's personal privacy, being outed or somehow being made to feel vulnerable/threatened in RL as a result of what they posted on MN, but why else?

I thought your policy was not to delete posts (providing they fell were within the TALK guidelines) unless they seriously compromised someone's privacy or safety, or there was potentially a legal issue.

I had all my post deleted a few years ago.

I can't really say why. But when I emailed MNHQ they were brilliant and did it within a few hours.

And so you should be...

MacaYoniandCheese · 04/10/2013 23:05

What Ria said. I've seen reams of poster-specific, deleted posts on fairly dignified threads involving innocuous subjects. Very mysterious!

CakeBotherer · 04/10/2013 23:05

SideBalls would make a great user name...

Is your name ring fenced then. Sort of corralled and if you let it loose it will gallop away for ever?

LRDtheFeministDragon · 04/10/2013 23:16

Dunno about how common it is, but I can think of at least two people who just politely asked, and HQ did. They even did a namechange on the one thread someone wanted to keep.

They don't like doing it precisely because it does leave huge holes in innocuous threads. But if you look at old threads, loads of people who're still around under other names have had to do it for whatever reason.

So I think they will do it, it's just they don't like to publicize or we'd all be saying wahhh, I made a twat of myself, I want a blank slate.

ExitPursuedByADragon · 04/10/2013 23:16
