A poster's entire history being deleted 'at poster's request'.

I realise it has happened when there have been serious issues regarding someone's personal privacy, being outed or somehow being made to feel vulnerable/threatened in RL as a result of what they posted on MN, but why else?

I thought your policy was not to delete posts (providing they fell were within the TALK guidelines) unless they seriously compromised someone's privacy or safety, or there was potentially a legal issue.

OP posts:

Well that didn't work. They just deleted my cliff Richard tight pants picture and comment! Grin

Chipping Its not like I'm going to keep going and checking back through 23 pages to see of they are gone. Rather not re read all that

usualsuspect · 04/10/2013 21:32

Just advance search yourself,SP.

CakeBotherer · 04/10/2013 21:34

I know of one poster they deleted everything for. Of course she then came back, turned out to be an emotional vampire, was banned, came back under several other names still spouting shit so now I'm very meh and Hmm about the deletions.

That said despite all the drama and lies I don't doubt the basis of her story was untrue and that she was having a genuinely crap time and therefore see why that user name was deleted. It's just a pity she is an absolute loon who refused to get help and hurt a lot of people along the way.

And the most random thing is just as I finished typing that someone on TV said the user name that was deleted!!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/10/2013 21:37

You can request to have all your past posts deleted. It's a long and arduous job for tech but if you give a good enough reason then they will do it. It doesn't automatically imply troll.

ItsNotATest · 04/10/2013 21:46

Didn't the erm... relatively well known poster... erm... who may or may not have known she was pregnant, have all her posts deleted? Or have I imagined that?

RiaOverTheRainbow · 04/10/2013 21:47

I've never seen it happen 'live' but quite a lot of zombie threads have all of a poster's comments removed. Maybe it happened more often a few years ago?

MrsManshape · 04/10/2013 21:51

Now i'm intrigued. Can someone PM me and let me know the goss.

usualsuspect · 04/10/2013 21:58

I'm intrigued too.

Also a nosey fucker.

LtEveDallas · 04/10/2013 22:07

TDWP
Cod
TLES

And a couple of others have had whole usernames deleted.

ClaraOswald · 04/10/2013 22:10

I thought it happened if they asked MNHQ to delete everything associated with their account when de-regging.

MrsManshape · 04/10/2013 22:11

I know the first two, but the third has me stumped...

SPsTwerkingNineToFive · 04/10/2013 22:11

I dont know any of them

LtEveDallas · 04/10/2013 22:13

Uh no, I think I've got myself confused

TDWP wasn't all she seemed.
cod had history deleted
SB had history deleted, but I think she was also someone else who was quite well known - and hasnt had history deleted.

SP, deleting that Cliff picture was entirely necessary and reasonable

ChaosTrulyReigns · 04/10/2013 22:26

Didn't someone once have all their name changed to something else.

I would imagine that would be trickeir than deleting all posts.

Look at me, all concernful of Tech.

Smile
usualsuspect · 04/10/2013 22:28

I luff tech, he debollocked me.

I had to beg though.

I didn't know you could do the name changing thing.

bsc · 04/10/2013 22:30

Dilemma, RnB (though back now)

Riven's past posts were all namechanged, and I think Xenia's too at some point.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 04/10/2013 22:31

hides from image of ususal's bedollocking>>

Portofino · 04/10/2013 22:32

It certainly doesn't imply troll. I know a couple of people of people who requested their posting histories deleted due to stalkers/interference.

MotherOfDragon · 04/10/2013 22:36

I had all my old posts under a 4 yearn changed due to abusuve co snooping
