Hello. We hope you all already feel you can talk to us at MNHQ anytime - either by starting a thread in Site Stuff or by mailing us or reporting a post.

But we also thought it might be useful/interesting to have a live discussion about how how about we do things re moderation etc...

So, we're hosting our very own MNHQ live webchat!

Please do join us at 1pm on Thursday to ask (more or less) anything you want. And, if you can't make then, do feel free to post a nice question here in advance.

It's best to just be ignored and needy because then you get lovely personal messages from Helen and Justine.

MmeLindor · 04/10/2012 20:02

I was ignored too, LineRunner.

You may live to regret this - all these offended huffy MNetters.

No, seriously, good webchat. Sorry I missed it. Damn work.

LineRunner · 04/10/2012 20:04

We need to get Helen and Justine on at midnight, one night.

JustineMumsnet · 04/10/2012 20:16

@MrsKwazii

I have a bit of a moan about webchats. I'm never sure if I'm going to be able to make them, so tend to post a question early in the thread. However, these then tend to get ignored as the web 'chat' effect comes into play - as it should really otherwise it'd just be a Q&A I suppose - but it can be a bit disheartening.

There is also the possibility that some of my questions are mindnumbingly dull and quite rightly ignored. I don't like that version of events as much though Grin

We do try to get guests to answer pre-entered questions in advance. I now know how hard it is to keep up if you don't do some preparation, so we will redouble efforts on this.

JustineMumsnet · 04/10/2012 20:17

@Solo

I don't know anything about the previous nickname amnesty, but couldn't a delete button be added so that we can delete our own as we wish?

Sounds like a good idea to me. Will see if whether Techs think it's possible.

JustineMumsnet · 04/10/2012 20:22

@MmeLindor

I'd like to thank MNHQ for the incredible opportunities they have given me this year. It's been amazing.

I'd like to know how many posts are reported in a day, and what percentage of those are deleted.

And where you see yourselves in 10 years? Could there be a TeenNet. Or a PreTeenNet?

Au contraire - thank you for all your wonderfulness.
I think H said about 200 reports come in roughly, not sure about deletions but will check. And in 10 years I'll be happy if I'm still drawing breath tbh. I'm reminded of that opening line of the lecture Steve Jobs gave to Stanford students: "Remember, we all die soon" [cheerful].

Seriously though there is NO WAY I'm doing a pre-teen or teens net - not given what I know about them...
Imagine every post to TNHQ would be: "You're so wierd" Grin

Anyway I'm not really here - just tidying up a few leftovers. Good eves.

SoupDragon · 04/10/2012 20:32

I was ignored too. [sulk]

But, then again, I forgot about the whole webcast thing anyway Blush

JustineMumsnet · 04/10/2012 20:34

Weren't you just rude about OliviaMN Soupy?

FuzzyGOLDwood · 04/10/2012 20:38

Can I sulk too, I know I hadn't read all of the thread when I posted but pah and humpf

LineRunner · 04/10/2012 20:42

Put a Power Ballad on, Fuzzy.

SoupDragon · 04/10/2012 20:46

No, I asked a question about her :) anything else would have been a personal attack [prim]

YouSmegHead · 04/10/2012 21:11
Sad
MmeLindor · 04/10/2012 21:44

Justine
When I was setting up Jump Mag someone asked if I would be doing some kind of forum. My answer was HELL NO!

Can you imagine moderating that?

Although, not sure it could be worse than MN ...

BonnyDay · 04/10/2012 22:03

I hate HATE the word Pre teen.
Ime it's only ever used wrt abusive images of children.

perfectstorm · 04/10/2012 22:23

Oooh, I didn't know you were allowed to label the behaviour post and not the child poster. I get it now. Thank you.

MmeLindor · 04/10/2012 22:26

Erm, think you are wrong there, Bonny.

I get loads of hits from people looking for a pre-teen blog or magazine, so it is obviously used in other ways.

YouSmegHead · 04/10/2012 22:27

You are forgiven Grin

Solo · 04/10/2012 22:35

Spell check Justine Wink spell check!!! Grin 'weird'

MrsWembley · 04/10/2012 22:35

Can't believe you actually spoke to me!Blush

And it was an answer already given, but thank-you anyway. Some very interesting stuff about deletions, too. I'd love to be able to tell it like it is, but I'm a coward too polite. Maybe I'll use YPMYSLAA too...

And if anyone's in Bristol, look in local for stuff about a Christmas do. Grin

MaryZed · 04/10/2012 22:36

Um, Solo I think she might have been (mis)quoting the teenagers's spelling.

MmeLindor · 04/10/2012 22:41

I saw that Solo, but thought she was being ironic Wink

FunnysInLaJardin · 04/10/2012 22:56

we can credit JustineMN with many things, but I would be thrilled I tell thee if she couldn't spell like the rest of us. I can't spell weird or necessary or lose. Twould be great if it wasn't some ironic comment on teenagers, just bad spelling.......

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 04/10/2012 23:17

We can credit JustineMN with the Quote of the Week.

Great webchat, thank you Grin. I didn't post any questions but I enjoyed reading it.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 04/10/2012 23:27

Perfectstorm that's a good way of thinking of it. In my head I'm usually saying, "play the ball and not the player." No idea why, I know nothing about football.
