How long should a thread be left up after we are informed it is going to be deleted?

Because I don't think that four minutes is enough of a warning, I really don't Sad

You know it will just mean threads about threads, because people who don't press F5 every minute see what looks like a totally valid question getting wiped out.

If we are going to invoke the Olympic Spirit, may I politely suggest one that leans towards London rather than Beijing?

Dis she ever get back from shopping?

Mamamaiasaura · 31/07/2012 19:39

Grin lebof fair tho

MarygoeZforgold · 31/07/2012 19:40

I thought she was accused of repeated personal attacks, not necessarily on one thread though? If she had been warned before and told to behave, and then warned again, maybe they felt just one more nasty post warranted banning.

In which case a grovelling "sorry mnhq, I know I was out of order but she is driving me absolutely fucking crazy, but I promise to hide all her threads from now on" not that I've ever had to do that you understand would go a long way.

Saying "I didn't do anything won't help. Because obviously mnhq feel she did do something.

I thought they said "We are going to shortly delete this thread as it is not useful (or something like that). Stranded, we are emailing you".

Olympia2012 · 31/07/2012 19:41

Maybe she is banned!

GetOrfMoiRing · 31/07/2012 19:42

I think I am gettinf disillusioned with minute again.

There is a marked tendency to pander to the whingers isn"t there.

Mind you we are whingers as well.

Oh I don't know. That deletion was ridic.

What's the chances that a similar woe is me thread will appear shortly.

LeB0F · 31/07/2012 19:42

She doesn't recall being warned before, Mary. And the email did specify that it related to that thread.

OP posts:
Olympia2012 · 31/07/2012 19:42

Nope.... Did not see the 'it's not useful' and I specifically looked for a reason

CakeistheAnswer · 31/07/2012 19:43

But, but....the recipes. Sad

Wrenched brutally from our motherly bosoms.

catinboots · 31/07/2012 19:46

Has the thread gone?? FFS. I'm all sorts of confused.

LeB0F · 31/07/2012 19:47

Mary, I still don't think you can aloplogise for what you haven't done. You might say "Actually I only posted once on that thread, so I don't understand how that constitutes multiple personal attacks, but if the comment I made was near the knuckle could you explain how it was actually a PA, because I do generally strive to stay withing the guidelines? Thanks etc" rather than "swivel on it". But when people feel upset, they aren't always at their most diplomatic, are they?

LissiesAWenlockLass · 31/07/2012 19:47

getorf, Im disillusioned too.

maybe we could start an OTBT quiche for all the atrocious cunts, and leave the rest of mn for the whingers.

Thats if we dont all get banned for being mean.

maryz, all tsc did was repeat what posters had said themselves. nothing more. several times, yes. but, I know that you live in Ireland, that you have adopted, that you drive your dc's around a fair bit. I know that from threads and convos. should I not mention it ever again? which is what was discussed on the other thread. and artex's banning was ridonkulous.

Im going to paint my toenails red now.

usualsuspect · 31/07/2012 19:48

My Blackberry always changes MN to minute as well .

cocolepew · 31/07/2012 19:48

I bet HQs gin cupboard supply is nearly depleted. The last week has been very trying for them.

MarygoeZforgold · 31/07/2012 19:49

I dunno then, I've been warned loads of times and never banned. I've broken a fair few rules and discussed them (at length) with mnhq. I just know in the end if you persistently continue to break rules, no matter how justified you feel you are (or even how much you actually know that in their heart of hearts you are probably right - my real run-in was with penandink and the troll-hunting/sockpuppetting threads), eventually they will say "just stop or else" and you have to stop.

I would say to her what I always say to ds1 - it doesn't really matter whether you feel it is fair or not, you need to say you won't do it again. The email you quoted above certainly did not indicate that she was willing to accept the rules, so obviously they aren't going to go cap in hand to her saying "please come back"

Sorry Olympia, I thought there was a reason given, but I was trying to catch up on a day's thread in 5 minutes.

LeB0F · 31/07/2012 19:49

Anyway, I am going to SHUT UP now, for fear of jinxing this fragile rapprochement.

OP posts:
cocolepew · 31/07/2012 19:49

Oh I thought she was being posh!

LeB0F · 31/07/2012 19:49

cocolepew · 31/07/2012 19:58

I always get Bof and Reality mixed up. Apropos of nothing really.

LeB0F · 31/07/2012 19:59

I'm sooooo jealous of your Olympic name, GetOrf. I couldn't think of one, and even if I could, it would never be as rude Sad

We have got a lot in common, cocolepew, but there are some crucial differences I don't take it up the arse.
