Having rofled our way through your Bradley-Wiggins-inspired poetry thread, we thought we'd start the Official Mumsnet Olympics Haiku Thread.

Please do come and post your best haikus about the Games, as and when inspiration strikes.

We may well have a prize or two for the best offerings....

Team GB enter
As flags wave and people cheer
Queenie does her nails

(one of the best bits of the whole ceremony)

Kazakhstan win gold
Road race victory is theirs
Jagshemash! Is nice!

Greatest show on earth
The Queen parachutes in
Whilst I had a wee

unwise purchase of
the wenlock and mandeville
mascots fully priced

My prediction for 2012:

Obscure Brit medals.
Their hitherto unloved sport
Suddenly gains fans.

Gymnastics is the new cycling, donchaknow.

Women's foil fencing
Italians dominant
Gold silver and bronze

(have to say, I was gripped! Hugely exciting as both the final and the bronze match went to sudden death! And they look like they should be in tron!)

Once in a lifetime
I tell dd. Her response;

En route to Stratford

Among blind archers
The one-eyed have a chance of

On seeing James Bond

But she was quite slow today

Mum hogs the TV.
