Having rofled our way through your Bradley-Wiggins-inspired poetry thread, we thought we'd start the Official Mumsnet Olympics Haiku Thread.

Please do come and post your best haikus about the Games, as and when inspiration strikes.

We may well have a prize or two for the best offerings....

Purple peopled
Sweating tubed tourist trap
Cash in the till

All hail Olympics
Glittering ceremony
Elbow do the feem toon

Plants sway in the breeze
Olympic village shining
Medals are to be won

Olympic spirit
Traffic at a standstill
The fat cats get through

It's the taking part
Shame the IOC sold our
soul for a Big Mac

Naked frothing bodies
push hard
Boris dreams of ancient entourage

Oh Olympic Flame
lit by glittering arrow or ball
or something else

It's the taking part
Not winning that's important.
That's just loser talk!

Glued to the TV
watching athletes perform
don't move from the couch

When we won the bid,
My son had just been conceived
Where does the time go?

Fake clouds float around
A fake English countryside.
Hope medals are real.

Random geese and horse
At the ceremony now
What the actual fuck?

Half an hour to go
Until everything kicks off
And here comes the rain...

Sorry anyone who lives in east London. I did once so I am allowed to say it's a bit yuck in parts, right ?
