Hello.

Having rofled our way through your Bradley-Wiggins-inspired poetry thread, we thought we'd start the Official Mumsnet Olympics Haiku Thread.

Please do come and post your best haikus about the Games, as and when inspiration strikes.

We may well have a prize or two for the best offerings....

Don't have a TV

Haiku on the Taikwondo last night:

Foot and face just touched
A lifetime of training leads
To winning the gold

Haiku on the shockingly dreary ExCel catering available to punters:

Burnt pasty and pie
Do not elite athletes make
That's why they ate fish

Haiku on the German contingent of punters at the Taekwondo, who seemingly knew zilch about Taekwondo, but who only had a choice of six of the more obscure sports to choose from, thanks to the apparent limitations put on them by their national ticket providers:

We came, we saw it
Little choice of sports, you know
We've heard of them now

Impressions of the immediate Docklands area around ExCel, after LOCOG 'regenerated' it.

No plants, only bark
Police state shiny and fenced
Its soul has now flown

Haiku on the volunteers, who have brought a chirpy cheerfulness to the Games quite out of step with the current state of officialdom in contemporary British society:

Smiling does come free
But only for a fortnight
Boredom will come back

On seeing one of the winners of the women's Taekwondo bronze medal in the cafe:

Teen boy stands silent
"Hey, mum, look, it's really her!"
Sporting greatness touched

Boris Johnson you
Made me laugh so much but please
Don't ever dance again

Spice Girls can't be topped?
