Hello.

Having rofled our way through your Bradley-Wiggins-inspired poetry thread, we thought we'd start the Official Mumsnet Olympics Haiku Thread.

Please do come and post your best haikus about the Games, as and when inspiration strikes.

We may well have a prize or two for the best offerings....

Hello. And thanks for your patience while we 'judged'.

We thought they were all fantastis - and it was really hard to choose the winners.

Special mentions to BoffinMum, bisjolympics and FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman for repeated haiku brilliance throughout the thread.

And extra-special commendations to rockinhippy's dc, jimswifeinTokyo1964 ds and onadifferentplanet's ds for junior haiku wizardry.

But our overall winners are :

In achingly gut-wrenching 4th place (but we'll see if we can find you a consolation prize): ApplesinmyPocket for...
"Great Britain takes gold!"
We've heard that much more often
than we expected.

Bronze medal: OatyBeatie for...
G4S wrote this
But ran out of syllables.
Army did last line.

Silver medal: FairPhyllis for...
Before the swimming
Didn't think it possible
To rhyme with 'Naughtie'

Gold meal: rockinhippy: for...
Thunder BOLT, Lightning
Very, very frightening
Mama Mia - GOLD

Well done all. Do please drop us a mail at [email protected], letting us know your contact details so we can get your prizes sent out to you.
