Why are some members of this site allowed to get away with persistently being vile, pushing an agenda, defending the indefensible, upsetting other members, twisting versions of events and generally being nasty, and they do not get banned?

Not about any one particular poster, but I have noticed that some stronger "personalities" on here seem to be Teflon coated.

Why is this?

Why do the owners of this site want that kind of vile poster and do not seem to care about the number of truly decent kind posters who are being upset and driven off the site?

I met a lawyer at work from DLA Piper once. I thought she was going to be all impressive in a scary way like Miriam Gonzalez but she had a top which I had (from Primark) and was all mild mannered. And I thought all top lawyers were scary. I could have put her over my knee (oo err)

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 21:02

I don't know why I said Gladys.

That's not her name.

But yes I would love to brick her up in a castle wall hide her away

GnocchiNineDoors · 04/07/2012 21:03

Bet she's a scary ass in the court room though. It's always the quiet ones

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 21:05

Hathor I am sorry you have had such a horrible load of things happen to you by the way. And genuinely sorry that you were hounded off before.

I will always be grateful for MN when they have supported me during horrible times. It has been a tower of strength. And to be honest, it is also very helpful when I just want to forget about what's going on in my life, and just come on here to talk ABSOLUTE SHIT about eyeliner pencils, cats, baby names of america and Peter Andre. I think that's the strength of MN. Stops me wallowing in my own thoughts.

usualsuspect · 04/07/2012 21:06

I think we all have a Gladys on MN

ChickensHaveNoLips · 04/07/2012 21:06

I work for MNHQ

I don't really.

I know that Unicorn, I think, but she eludes me

usualsuspect · 04/07/2012 21:06

I come on MN to escape the shit going on in my life.

MorrisZapp · 04/07/2012 21:08

These threads are so so tiresome for the 'third class' MNers who aren't royalty, and who don't do pm's or FB groups.

Ie, most of us.

It's like watching opera - it would be interesting and dramatic if only we knew what the buggers were singing about.

The rules don't need changing. It's only a small, self selecting group who have these barneys then start endless threads rehashing them, without ever stating clearly what actually happened.

Moderation is fine as it is. If you don't like MN then find another community you do like, and for the love of god don't give out personal info or FB indentities.

LeB0F · 04/07/2012 21:08

I just thought amillion might . It always cheers me up.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 21:10

but morris you so do know what al lth ehoo-ha was.

GnocchiNineDoors · 04/07/2012 21:10

I love it when I see a thread being self-moderated. I imagine MNHQ cracking their knuckles to get to work, seeing the replies from many a poster and trotting off to put the kettle on while they sit back and watch their job being done for them.

usualsuspect · 04/07/2012 21:11

I don't know whats going on half the time , but then I stumble on a thread and sit there all agog at the goings on.

WhatWouldMargoDo · 04/07/2012 21:11

I deffo have a Gladys on mn. Or two. Or three. I think everyone thinks 'bloody hell how does she get away with that?' at least once a week.

Anyway, now I understand about ronnie Corbett, my life is complete.

I would leave if this place had moderators.

babyheaves · 04/07/2012 21:12

3rd Class MNers?

are they the ones that sit in the rain and get smoke blown into their face, or am I confusing Rail History with internet forums?

Its always a bugger when that happens.

WhatWouldMargoDo · 04/07/2012 21:13

Usual, I love you, apropos of nothing.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 21:13

That Mitchell and Webb thing made me laugh.

I have never watched that on telly - christ knows how it passed me by like most of life

MorrisZapp · 04/07/2012 21:13

Maybe I should have said steerage.

genuine lol at baby Grin

I have visions of all the MN 1st classers swooping along with Trevor Howard accents accompanied by Rachmaninov.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 21:16

Steerage MNers = jolly oirish dancing but salt of the earth types, who welcome 1st classers who stand on their tip toes and dance in circles like out of Saturday Night Fever.

Hully, I knew the lib fems and the rad fems were having another dust up, I even joined in a bit.

But they're always at it, aren't they?

And easily avoided?
