Why are some members of this site allowed to get away with persistently being vile, pushing an agenda, defending the indefensible, upsetting other members, twisting versions of events and generally being nasty, and they do not get banned?

Not about any one particular poster, but I have noticed that some stronger "personalities" on here seem to be Teflon coated.

Why is this?

Why do the owners of this site want that kind of vile poster and do not seem to care about the number of truly decent kind posters who are being upset and driven off the site?

I don't work for MNHQ just so you know .

HelenMumsnet · 04/07/2012 20:40

@Pagwatch

Oh it's difficult.

I reported today because a poster was being an absolute shit - smart arse and goading, really horrible.
But when I read all of her posts they individually stayed this side of delete-worthy.
It must be difficult to find a line.

It is terrible that people get upset.

( And it is a bit terrible that I found the Ghandhi moment very funny. It was like Alan Partridge)

Yes, that is a difficult one. But still worth reporting. Especially if, when you report, you say something like "I know this doesn't break the Guidelines but please look at her posting history - is she a goader?"

Then we could take a look. And at the very least start to build up a picture of what that poster's up to (if anything).

The truth is, no one works for HQ. It's all Siri, by Apple.

Hully I think she would like to be Grin

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:43

You may approach the bench Izzy-but-its-Isobel-on-the-brith-certificate

I'm surprised they allow that

LeB0F · 04/07/2012 20:44

Yes, don't google "Mother Theresa and the nazis"- you get some very unsavoury stuff.

The internet really is full of nutters.

hathorisaskingaquestion · 04/07/2012 20:44

What's a brith certificate? Is it something you get with that nice welsh bread?

I recall Gandhi and Disneyland, but ronnie Corbett passed me by.

Mintyy · 04/07/2012 20:45

Hathor - you have an awful lot of terrible stuff to deal with, atm.

Why don't you be brave and quote or post examples of people hounding you off which have been left to stand?

Hq are generally very quick to delete offensive posts these days but only if someone has reported them.

They do not sit here day after day night after night scrutisining every single post people make.

If someone has been seriously offensive towards you and hounded you off Mumsnet then you MUST report them.

amillionyears · 04/07/2012 20:45

HelenMumsnet, how do you personally know all these people well enough to say "again,I think she'd rather scratch her eyes out"?

GetOrfMoiiLand · 04/07/2012 20:45

I could be a Kardashian, though, so all is not lost

There is a person on MN who I would like to report, even though she plays by the rules as they stand, because she is a horrible, good for nothing spiteful sneery grotbags.

LeB0F · 04/07/2012 20:45

He was probably too short for you to spot him whizzing by on his scooter, Margo.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:45

TuftyFinch wants to be Ronnie in the play. It may have been on another thread. It all got a bit much frankly.

Tee2072 · 04/07/2012 20:46

"The internet really is full of nutters."

Amen, sister.

For example, did you know that the Jews sank the Titanic? It's true. The iceberg (snerk) was Jewish...

babyheaves · 04/07/2012 20:46

There is one thing I've learned about Mumsnet.

Its when real life is getting you down and you are stressed beyond belief about the important stuff, never, ever, EVER click on a thread that has the disclaimer (light hearted!) after the title.

UnicornRainbowLove · 04/07/2012 20:46

You caught me and Mary out amillion. It's like fucking scooby doo round here.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:47

amillion-

I think CSI is on now. They need your forensic ananlysis skills in Vegas.

Tee2072 · 04/07/2012 20:47

BTW, I'm actually Justine.

Have I never mentioned that?

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:47

The iceberg was called Hymie. Not a lot of people know that.

usualsuspect · 04/07/2012 20:47

@amillionyears

HelenMumsnet, how do you personally know all these people well enough to say "again,I think she'd rather scratch her eyes out"?

Well, I don't know either of those people very well personally - though I have met one of them at an MNHQ meetup - but let's just say both of them have, over the years, mailed in to express their crossness at some of our decisions. Smile

Right, really have gotta go now.

Hullygully · 04/07/2012 20:48

Actually we ALL work for MNHQ and sleep with Helen except you, amillion.
