Ladies, please, the Netmums comparisons are a bit below the belt. Also, Justine we generally refer to children as 'DCs' round here - it's just one of the abbreviations - you'll get used to them at some point - don't want you to think we're all cliquey or anything.

WitchOfEndor · 29/05/2012 21:51

For the love of the wee man, I have been trying to get to the end of this thread all afternoon! I've not been deleted yet but have noticed it all going a bit mad recently so wanted to get my name on the list.

See Justine ^ It's not just troll hunting "I'm reporting this thread"s that are being deleted.

It's getting silly

Is there anybody left to be deleted??

I clearly must try harder to say something offensive/against Talk Guidelines/that pisses off the advertisers.

You are all cunts, you are !!

Will that do?

FrankWippery · 29/05/2012 21:57

Clearly not, Pacific.

JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 21:58

@Maryz

Alright, so it isn't ok to attack regulars.

Are you going to delete the next thread that does it? If we report of course Hmm

Ok am not sure of backstory, Maryz, but yes we would of course delete an attack thread on a MN member. Ps why the Hmm - how would we know about it if you didn't report it? Confused

PacificDogwood · 29/05/2012 21:59

Damn!

Well, then I shall be forced to report this thread.
That'll learn'ya

Valpollicella · 29/05/2012 21:59

Sorry Sparkling. I've had a shitty day and am not at my best.

I only bring it up because MN was always the place where you could be forthright, challenging and clever with it. And not get deleted or asterixed for being an intelligent poster who replied in a certain way.

On MN there was never the fear of deletion for deriding someone for being an utter arse, if they were an obviously racist/disabilst/misoginist/otherist

That happened on other forums.

We all pretty much landed here because we had the freedom to challenge people in an intellignet way.

If it walks like a duck racist , sounds like a duck racist then it is a racist surely we should be able to challenge as we should in real life?

JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 21:59

Yeh, I've never much cared for that abbreviation thang Wink

Hassled · 29/05/2012 22:00

Have been brooding on all this and I do agree that AIBU should die a long slow painful death. It's like some sort of siren for nutters - and it's a place where it's considered completely fair enough to be strident and shouty. Even nice normal sane posters end up being a bit horrible there - I know I've been way more judgy/testy on AIBU than anywhere else.

Eventually people work out there's more to MN than AIBU and start being strident and shouty everywhere else and soon you won't be able to start a thread in Fishnet without someone somehow getting themselves or someone else deleted. AIBU has to go. It will be all rainbows and kittens again once AIBU has gone.

mistlethrush · 29/05/2012 22:00

Val .. there's another option about calling someone on racism etc. 'You're sounding just like a duck'

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1479159-to-understand-why-newbies-feel-unwelcome-when-theres-a-certain-group-of-people-on-here-that-think-mumsnet-is-all-about-them

This thread is an example. This is attacking a very specific group of posters who are speaking on a specific thread. It is also DESIGNED to cause a bunfight. What purpose is this thread fulfilling? Nothing other than being a bitchfest, inviting other posters to join in and bitch about regulars.

I reported it. It's still there.

I could find plenty of other examples. I don't usually bother reporting such crap to be honest, but in the light if the heavier moderation lately, and the fact that those standing up to the shittier element are the ones getting the big deletion button while the objectionable crap stays, I feel it's GROSSLY unfair.
