Ok, that's enough now MNHQ

Stop it with the mad deleting.

Well, we're all just ligging around waiting for Justine to come back and tell us what they're going to do about it.
And the thread was allowed to run in order to avoid a scattering of spin-offs.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 30/05/2012 19:21

As long as it's not breaking the law it should be left to stand. Calling someone a cunt wont stop the world turning and really, if it offends you that much there are plenty of pretty sparkly sites out there. You used to be able to tell someone to fuck off and when they got there to fuck off again... and not be deleted (don't say you couldn't, because you could). You used to be able to call a spade a spade - you can't even call it a bloody teaspoon now.

Can someone please PM me and let me know what's happened with BOF x

SecretNutellaFix · 30/05/2012 19:21

Perhaps MNHQ could issue a 3-month namechanging ban for everyone? If people are namechanging to target certain posters, and I'm sure that is what is happening in some cases, then that may slow down some of the worst of it. After all, if you post racist shit under one name, there is nothing stopping you from doing it again and again. Also, you should be able to stand by what you say, unless you are too cowardly. If it's for a sensitive subject then you would have to apply for permission to namechange. Thus, the people who are actually in need of assistance would get it without the pisstaking and calls of "troll" and the ones who are just out to cause trouble are stopped.

Overall, I maintain my position on getting rid of AIBU. I can remember a few people admitting that they nearly always only post in AIBU, or making it their priority when logging in to MN. And will admit that after a particularly fighty session in there, It does colour my reaction elsewhere.

LadyBeagleEyes · 30/05/2012 19:24

You can add me to the list too.
Though I hope no one on the list leaves, then that surely is the end of Mumsnet.
We have to fight from within.
I'm looking at you Stratters and LeBof. [glare]
I can't believe I'll never hear how Mortimer is doing, ever, ever again.
Yes MNHQ, Mortimer.
You know, the crow SarahStratton rescued, where us regulars followed every post.
Or Pinot and her kittens, another example of how lovely it is to chat to each other.
And we chat about lots of other stuff too, everybody is welcome to join in. I've seen Newbies ask Stratters about her raven, or ask Pinot about her kittens, and suddenly there's someone else that has got into the spirit of MN.
Why are we listening to the people that are only here to criticise and report?
Surely that is not what we want MN to be.

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 19:25

NL - that's the point of this thread.

OP posts:
ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 30/05/2012 19:28

So, we aren't even 'allowed' to say that someone is racist/disablist/fattist/whateverist - we have to go and tell MummyMNHQ. Really? FFS - what happend to discussion, adult conversation, robust debate... freedom of speech? This is getting unbearably PC & pathetic.

Mouldies P2 - please count me in.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 30/05/2012 19:28

Northern I've seen that thread and you are absolutely right, it's worthwhile, wonderful and important.
Now, how would you feel if someone came on and said something like " Why are you all praying and sending thoughts into the ether, it's rubbish and can't help anyone?"
I imagine you, or someone, would, quite rightly, say "Fuck off you twat".
You then get deleted for a personal attack, but the other post stands on the basis of freedom of speech.
?

ObviouslyOblivious · 30/05/2012 19:31

Maybe people aren't reporting intentionally? Maybe they've got fat fingers like me and hit the report button as they scroll on the mobile site :o

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 19:32

The more Justine delays, th emore gravitas the speech gathers.

It will be like one of the State of the Nation speeches.

heh heh

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 30/05/2012 19:36

Hah! If I was Justine I would suspend all the boards, so that no matter which topic we clicked on we would get only her Statement.

SecretNutellaFix · 30/05/2012 19:36

you still have to give a reason for reporting, so It isn't that, Oblivious.

BIWItheBold · 30/05/2012 19:36

We will fight them on the beaches ...

ObviouslyOblivious · 30/05/2012 19:39

I know Nutella Wink

It was a knee jerk reaction

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 19:39

I HAVE A DREAM

OP posts:
ObviouslyOblivious · 30/05/2012 19:39

To having hit the fecking button again. And then I hit post too early too.
Fat fingers.

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 19:39

Shall we draft it for her?

OP posts:
Tortington · 30/05/2012 19:41

THAT ALL POSTS WERE EQUAL
IN WIT

BIWItheBold · 30/05/2012 19:45

Unaccustomed as I am to public speaking...

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 19:46

I have a dream that one day this Mumsnet will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all posters are created equal (except the Po)."

I have a dream that one day in the hallowed Halls of MN, the daughters of former posters and the daughters of former Moany Pos will be able to sit down together at the table of sisterhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of MN, a site sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice, free from spiteful and malicious reporting and deletions occasioned thereof.

I have a dream that all my little MNers will one day live on a site where they will not be judged by their posting status, but by the content of their posts!

I have a dream today!

SuePBlovesaDiamondJubilee · 30/05/2012 19:51

Rabbitee, that is already kind of happening - lots of regulars are staying away atm, or only posting in their regular threads. Not that's it's an organised thing or a protest.

Maybe we should get banners. Or pamphlets. Or hard-hitting graffiti in train tunnels.

Pan · 30/05/2012 19:51

We will hear from MNHQ Palace early next week. Justine will be in a ratings war with another monarch.

JustineMumsnet · 30/05/2012 19:52

I've posted on this here

We'll stop contributions to this thread now as it's getting so large, it's breaking things.

Hullygully · 30/05/2012 19:53

But but

look at the lovely speech wot I wrote for you, Justine
