HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen

Definately Troll hunting.

Don't you know that's against the rules Shock

I think you should know that I have reported your post.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 12:53

If they delete my post will that confirm or deny that HQ are now Trolls?

Also if you post you have reported my post and get deleted han does that mean you are troll hunting?

'Cos that would make me a Troll

Can you rewrite the guide lines as thus please.

We strongly believe in free speech ad pride ourselves on it as a site. However as we like advertising and are tying to get new punters we reserve the right to fully delete anything we do not consider naice or goes against the current Zeitgeist, without an explanation or application of common sense and /or logic

Yikes, Sandy. Why didn't you just say.

(sorry Brian! Blush)

Pan · 29/05/2012 13:04

pretty passive/aggressive there Sandy. But customer Service types do manage to ocassionally tell you to fuck off whilst smiling nicely. The insult is embedded, but not far from the surface.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 13:07

Let us go back to first principles.

  1. A number of old hands, let us call them Regs, have noticed that there has been a significant increase in the number of deletions.
  1. We would like to know why.
OP posts:
HesterBurnitall · 29/05/2012 13:08

A quick read through classics is all you need to see the change in policy and frequency of deletions.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 13:10

Yes Nice to see HQ are endorsing the PA smilie

And

Inferring we should bugger off outside to play instead of messing about indoors on their website on a lovely day like this.

cocolepew · 29/05/2012 13:11

I got deleted! Me! I'm nice

All I said was I didn't believe a thread, but I was posting on it because it was slightly humourous.

That was all, no mention of trolls, just a bit of a fib.

NarkedPuffin · 29/05/2012 13:12

When did HQ go all Grease?

Summer lovin, happened so fast...

Codandchops · 29/05/2012 13:14

I once reported a post.....and had a very nice reply from MNHQ to say they were watching said thread.

And they pointed out that they had deleted one of my posts for breaking their Talk guidelines. Blush

Iggly · 29/05/2012 13:15

Maybe the zombie have landed in mnhq?

Not liking the selections either. Confooses me.

People join this site precisely because it's not all luv and Huns and shit.

Toughasoldboots · 29/05/2012 13:17

This reply has been deleted

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

BarbaraWoodlousaraptor · 29/05/2012 13:19

Ahem Honey, they are implying we should all bugger off and play, not inferring (non passive agressive Smile, honest).

Totally agree that the deletions are just snooker loopy nuts at the moment.

BerryLellow · 29/05/2012 13:21

It's getting very hard to read threads when you come to them late for all the deletions.

I got taken in by a few trolls when I first joined MN, and learned from more regular posters what the 'signs' were, and mostly am able to avoid them now. Without those posters being able to talk about it back then I don't think I would have caught on so quickly.

It's all got a bit sensitive round here. Who is it that we are desperate not to offend anyway? I rather liked the old nest of vipers mood of the boards, where sometimes you took your life in your hands a little bit when you posted, but there was more debate and more humour then.

TheRhubarb · 29/05/2012 13:22

Actually can I just say that deletions do appear to be heavy handed at the mo. Time used to be when you could say just about anything and only personal insults would be deleted (at a push), now if you even imply anything you are deleted.

I was choice with my words on a thread about swimming and changing rooms, I was taking the piss and posted summat about women jiggling their tits about and buffing their minges. That got deleted.

Ok, it was a bit vulgar but that used to be one of the attractions of Mumsnet. We are all grown-ups and so long as vulgarity is kept within a thread (I hate to see them in thread titles) then what's so wrong with it?

I mean, you used to be able to tell a poster to fuck off and perhaps 2 days later it might be deleted or it might not. Now, you only have to imply that perhaps they ought to fuck off and it's deleted within seconds!

Snot the same.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 13:23

Quite Berry

I really really don't understand why they are lying down for the Po to march all over them.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 29/05/2012 13:24

So, is it policy, MNHQ?

I would very much appreciate a better response that Sandy's somewhat lacklustre effort.

OP posts:
BarbaraWoodlousaraptor · 29/05/2012 13:24

Gold star The Rhubarb Wink

TheRhubarb · 29/05/2012 13:26

And yes, deleting posts that imply a poster is a troll is going too far. Because MNHQ does not act immediately on the 'Report This Post' link, so I think it's fair to point out facts to other posters, like stating that the OP is new or asking if she/he has posted a similar thread recently.

I can't imagine real trolls complaining too much and if name changers are wrong accused then I'm sure they are grown-up enough to deal with it. After all, you can tell them that their opinions are shite but you can't ask them if they are new to Mumsnet? Which one is most likely to offend do you think?

MooncupGoddess · 29/05/2012 13:26

Also ridiculous that lots of unpleasant/trolling OPs are allowed to stand, but anyone questioning them, however politely, gets deleted in seconds.

nethunsreject · 29/05/2012 13:26

Aye, big up The Rhubarb. Spot on.

Wink
HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 13:27

Sorry Barbara, is infer the one from logical evidence then? I am terrible for getting mixed up Grin

BarbaraWoodlousaraptor · 29/05/2012 13:28

I was reading a brilliant thread in Style and Beauty archives the other day.

Started off on school run dresses and about 50 posts in every one was telling each other the fuck the fuck off. Twas great. And not a deletion in sight.

TheRhubarb · 29/05/2012 13:28

Fuck off brown nose!
