Oh god LunaticFringe that is so tempting

[easily led]

CoteDAzur · 29/05/2012 21:15

Justine, you sound like you are trying to talk down the villagers with pitchforks and torches Grin

TheWomanFormerlyKnownAsSGM · 29/05/2012 21:15

I don't think so Hully. I think that post was unkind.

JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 21:15

@rhondajean

Justine I think they a saying that the post saying the op was reported gets deleted, not the op?

I do appreciate it must be a hell of a job finding balance, but isn't it nice that we are all so invested in your baby website?Grin

Oh I see, sorry, gotcha! Ok well again it's hard to comment without context but I would guess that it's the implication that someone is faking/a troll that is being deleted? Would that make sense?

OracleInACoracleocus · 29/05/2012 21:16

Sue, you are right. and posters who do need help are ignored when they post in the right place, because AIBU gets more traffic. and people go there read it, think that the way to fit in is to be a cunt. so they go onto a sensitive relationship thread, spouting off about how nice it is to be woken up to your DH penetrating you, and anyone who thinks otherwise is fridgid. other [posters take offence, after pages and pages of fighting rape myths they snap and post "look, if you cant be constructive, fuck off" and promptly get deleted.

good 'ere innit?

EclecticShock · 29/05/2012 21:17

I personally think deleting posts reported just because the post doesn't conform to the majority opinion irrespective of its contents and context is a slippery slope. You're sending out a message that those who are in the minority can be silenced. Which in turn will encourage people to report those they don't agree with. I have never been any more vocal than the opposing viewpoint.

CoteDAzur · 29/05/2012 21:17

Rather than being deleted from the list, I have now metamorphosed into "Cote Dazure"

ShirleyKnot · 29/05/2012 21:17

So it IS ok for me to be called a stupid mean bullying cliquey regular then?

Justine please answer shirley, Im getting frustrated on her behalf!

FrankWippery · 29/05/2012 21:18

Hully, whether you get along personally or not is beside the point really though: refusing to grovel to HQ over an unfair suspension shouldn't mean a defacto ban.

Blatherskite · 29/05/2012 21:19

I think Justine missed the point of my question earlier, which may be why the reply made no sense it's either that or the booze. As Maryz has just said, people are being deleted for posting "I'm reporting this thread" on a thread.

Why?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/05/2012 21:19

Does anyone remember when we had several troll hunter hater threads?

Notice that the amount of 'troll hunter' type comments have been deleted since those threads.

I reckon there's a secret trollhunter hunters group that go round reporting comments such as "I don't believe this" and "I'm reporting this thread"

It all makes such perfect sense in my tiny little mind now.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 21:19

Hully / Justine

Please, if either if you have any compassion in your souls, will you listen to AnyFucker and do as she says. I don't want to live in a world where I may inadvertently walk into her chained up minge. Please, think of the children.

SuePBlovesaDiamondJubilee · 29/05/2012 21:19

Oracle, I have it hidden. But it breaks through occasionally.
You're very right

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/05/2012 21:20

*that have been deleted... My typing is crap sorry.

JustineMumsnet · 29/05/2012 21:20

@CoteDAzur

Justine, you sound like you are trying to talk down the villagers with pitchforks and torches Grin

Gawd don't I know Grin.

Really though, I'm sorry that everyone is so exercised - clearly we do need to have a bit of a think but on the other hand I do know that the moderation team at MNHQ really do work extraordinarily hard at what is really a very difficult job at times and that their motives are really only to make MN the best board it can be. (They certainly don't do it for the cash Grin).

Ratbagcatbag · 29/05/2012 21:21

I've never been deleted yet, but I have definitely noticed more posts disappearing and not so many regulars around.

I do like AIBU though Blush it's great when I've got pmt. :)

NotSureICanCarryOn · 29/05/2012 21:21

Could you please answer to Maryz, please? One point at the time.

Justine, I started a thread recently where I asked was there a new definition of troll-hunting on Mumsnet and that people will now be deleted if they:

  1. ask the op to clarify something and use the words "it sounds unlikely that X would have happened

  2. say "I'm reporting this thread"

  3. say "Are you new?"

  4. say "Can you clear up a few things op, for example in post 1 you say you are a 13 year old girl and in post 4 you say you are a 40 year old hairy handed trucker, so I'm a bit confused"

  5. Make a categorical statement such as "the police won't take you to Guantanamo Bay just because you over-filled your wheelie bin".

Because all those things have been deleted recently, and the posters told not to "troll-hunt".

And OracleInACoracleocus Tue 29-May-12 21:16:54 too?

They are both very valid points.

mummynoseynora · 29/05/2012 21:21

Just to let you know I have reported my first post on this thread partially so I can see if I am deleted for saying it as I am really keen to have a response from Justine regarding it.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 21:21

I agree with so much that has been written here.

Will be back once I have wireless working

AnyFucker · 29/05/2012 21:22

I am oiling my chains as we speak

and preparing the minge for public display

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 21:22

Frank - I didn't even notice that bit, was just pleased that someone that harangued me for no reason or basis could no longer do so.

It wasn't that we didn't get on. It wasn't a two way thing. See ^^
