Deletions - These are ludicrous

Ok, that's enough now MNHQ

Stop it with the mad deleting.

It shouldn't matter who is reporting and what they're reporting.

HQ should have the balls to ignore the reports if they aren't worthy of deletion.

In essence, newbies shouldn't affect deletions if their reporting is out of sync with what MN is all about.

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 29/05/2012 16:58

Hate hate HATE the deletions. It's making so many threads almost impossible to follow.

It may actually force me into going offline and getting a life. Please don't make me.

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 29/05/2012 16:58

Nutty you have just kicked me off the list, and my little dog too Sad

TheWomanFormerlyKnownAsSGM · 29/05/2012 16:58

If you can not use words like racist, sexist, disabilist, homophobic or classist against a poster who is clearly engaged inthat behaviour, then there is no reason to have a talk board because all you are doing is reinforcing those positions. You are basically telling a rapist that it's totally okay to be a rapist and that you will delete any nasty wimmen who challenge you.

How on earth does that square with MNHQ's policy on being a supportive place for parents?

TheWomanFormerlyKnownAsSGM · 29/05/2012 16:59

I'm on phone and can't link but I'm adding my name to that list too.

SecretNutellaFix · 29/05/2012 16:59

Add yourself again HOney, and Hullypup

Hi Rebecca just seen your message. The response I had (deleting the MNHQ member who sent it and the name of the poster concerned - I guess you can find it from the Case ID) was:

Re: (Case 129214) 31196689

Hello there,

Thanks for reporting the post by [name removed]. We agree that it is possibly inflammatory, but for now we think it's best for other Mumsnetters to do what they do best and put the opposing point of view; wherever possible, we prefer this approach to deleting out of hand.

We will keep a close eye on the thread and on the poster.

Best wishes,

[Name removed]

-----

I have just checked the thread in question. It still exists but with no deletions from anyone. So I really don't understand why some people get deleted and some don't - it does seem a bit arbitrary, depending on who has a finger on the delete button and hasn't had enough coffee yet. Which is fine, as MN is run by humans and not machines, but it would be nice to have that acknowledged rather than having the rules being repeated. I'd consider myself to be one of the mildest flavours of MNer I even wince when I type swearwords but it does get a bit wearisome when we know the rules and are asking fairly genuine questions about policy. (Apols if this thread has moved on since my earlier post, was scanning and saw your reply so thought I would post asap).

It wasn't done on sodding purpose!!!

TheRhubarb · 29/05/2012 17:01

Are we staging a rebellion? Oooooh, shall I get out my Doc Martens?

We need a fire in an oil drum - anyone got one?

Hully, you can make slogans for our banners.

CharminglyOdd · 29/05/2012 17:01

Sorry, I should clarify, on the thread I reported there was (IMO) trolling on one side and vitriol on the other that was equivalent to other deletions, so I don't understand the difference.

None of the early ones are on, Tough, because when I did the first list I couldn't work out how to get the names on other pages without losing the post...soz.

Please c&p and add yersel.

How is your Puppy Honey? (that sounds somehow rather rude and suggestive) < reports self>

SecretNutellaFix · 29/05/2012 17:04

NO, I never!!!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 29/05/2012 17:05

"as MN is run by humans and not machines"

Are we sure about this though?

Have MNHQ been replaced by evil rule/guideline abiding robots? It would explain this strange new eagerness to delete.

I imagine they look a little bit like Cybermen, maybe with better dress sense.

AbsofAwesomeness · 29/05/2012 17:05

We could Occupy Site Stuff or AIBU and be like those hippies

KatieScarlett2833 · 29/05/2012 17:06

I report some of the nastier personal attacks. I'm not a newbie, either.

spamm · 29/05/2012 17:08

OOOhhh - Occupy MN.

I'm not saying I don't report- I do, sometimes it seems very frequently.

But there appears to be an upsurge in reporting the most banal of statements, for the pettiest reason. In other words the person it was directed towards doesn't like being corrected.

SuePBlovesaDiamondJubilee · 29/05/2012 17:08

Oh I report too KatieS, all the time. I meant the ones who arrive loudly and then whinge about everything.

TheRhubarb · 29/05/2012 17:08

Could someone look at this goo on my Doc Marten boot and see if it's puppy shaped please? I might have stood on it earlier.
