Stop it with the mad deleting.

BUT it shouldn't matter WHO is reporting or indeed WHAT they are reporting if HQ are applying the rules fairly, they would just ignore the fluffy bunnykins and MN wouldn't change.

HQ should ignore reports if they are fucking stupid, quite honestly.

It doesn't even read as though tethers said the poster was a racist. She implied that the particular viewpoint that had just been expressed was racist.

Really, MNHQ, really really really you are deleting one HELL of a lot more now than you ever did before, largely by scope creep on what constitutes a personal attack. It ISN'T the same as it was five or six or seven years ago. And the frustrating thing is that it doesn't even seem to have been deliberate. It's your site; if you want to start extending the range of deletions to anything you want say, people whose posting style reminds you of your sixth form geography teacher then that's your prerogative. But at least then you'd be accepting that there's a change in policy; in the current situation there's a loud insistence that because the written guidelines themselves haven't changed then it logically follows that the way in which they are applied is also unchanged and that's very frustrating when it's obvious that it isn't.

The trouble is that some of the posters that have been put off by the recent wave of heavy fisted handed deletions are some of the people that have helped it have the quality and character it has. If lots more of those posters delete what will be left? Some people in their quiet little quiches on the outskirts, and a whole lot of newbie racists and rape apologists that will find that its not worth posting anymore because there's no one to have a good argument with any more. Or perhaps it will go down the route of uber moderation and morph into the boring sister of another well known site.
