Umm, I'll defer to the other smart, wise regulars on matters of deletions about rape myths and topics like that as I tend to just fanny about on _Chat threads.

BUT there have been some very obvious and spiteful goading of prolifics recently that have been allowed to stand, despite reporting them. There does seem to be one rule for the Po and one rule for the grumpy prolific regulars. And that ain't fair

Is this simply a case of a certain HQer being moderator alot more nowadays (you know the one I mean, Rebecca?) if so, then some training issues have become apparent.

This has to be the death of MN then - at least the way it used to be. And certainly not the site I joined back in 2005. I thought the whole point was that we could have a healthy debate and be more forthright on here - not all namby pamby. And I agree that does not mean hateful attacks against others, but come on! What has happened to MNHQ. With this in mind, it should probably become Kidsnet - when we all come whining to MNHQ: "She said xxx and I don't like it" - worse that my 7 yo ds.

By the way, I have never been deleted, except the time I posted the same thing 149 times because my phone went crazy. Looks like I might see that change soon, as well.

It really isn't ..... if I want to publicly state I feel a thread or post is inappropriate I am entitled to do so. Surely all the staunch anti established Mnetters Troll hunters don't want reporting to be a big dirty secret?

And I have noticed a direct increase in certain posters being deleted, are also posters being subjected to snidey comments about elitism and cliquiness. But being snide and blatantly insinuations don't subject personal attacks so don't get reported.

MNHQ I get the site is busy. But you are trigger happy and you are making some total fuck ups in what you do delete and what you don't.

The deletions HAVE become more frequent.

That could be because more posters are reporting because they are "professionally offended".
But it is damaging the threads because no-one can make sense of them and I recall from a couple of emails sent to me when I've asked for certain posts of mine to be deleted, that the response was always that MNHQ don't like deleting posts that then makes the thread confusing to read.

So what is the policy now on threads that are so disjointed that they don't actually make sense any more? Will you start deleting them? Or will you have a look at updating the policy guidelines to only delete personal attacks if the poster who has been attacked reported them?

After all, Hully might tell me to fuck off, I'd start an argy bargy and by the end all would be well and there'd be hearts and flowers. But some busybody has reported Hully's post to me. If I was offended, surely I'd report it myself?

Seriously become insanely unbalanced - making threads unreadable and allowing the truly offensive people through the net.

Could you do a hidey post thing, a bit like on Amazon's forum where the 'offending' post is covered up, but if you want to see what had been said, you click on it? Then people would know that MNHQ think it's Not On, but can still see all the context for yourself?

So please don't say that policy guidelines have not changed. They have because this is now a deletable offence.

It's OK tantrums - because although MNHQ will "take a look" they'll generally allow that sort of accusation to remain.

So it's a personal attack to call a racist a racist, but it's not a personal attack to call people cliquey bullies (as long as you don't name names, but you can allude to an ACTUAL thread where said "bullies" are and make reference to the subjects they are discussing - that's all "alright")
