Ok, that's enough now MNHQ

Stop it with the mad deleting.

OP posts:
ShirleyKnot · 29/05/2012 15:30

I think if someone called me a chav, for example, then they would be deleted.

It's all good, as long as I now know to just report it everytime someone says something rude to someone or to me, or holds an opinion I don't agree with an expresses it in a manner I find objectionable then I'll start being a massive pain in the fucking arse a good little reporter.

Thumbwitch · 29/05/2012 15:31

LadyClarice - it was tethers calling someone a racist, not being racist herself. That constitutes a personal attack, apparently. Although I still think that's debatable.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:31

Me too Shirl.

I am going to follow the guidelines To The Letter.

I expect we all are, aren't we?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/05/2012 15:31

Yes, it almost feels as though they're just running an 'offensive-phrase detector' piece of software. Set to highest sensitivity.

CharminglyOdd · 29/05/2012 15:32

I was staying well clear of this but now I'm totally confused. I reported something a while back* for being a clearly goading probably trolling thread and received a reply stating that MNHQ could see the person was starting a bunfight but that (paraphrasing) they prefer to let members sort out their difference of opinions onthread.

But when people attempt to do this (according to the example cited here) they get deleted? I can see that a thread full of people jumping on someone is unpleasant but I don't see why it's wrong to call a racist a racist.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:32

No, they only look at stuff that's reported, that's the trouble.

Us lot don't report. The Po don't stop.

Mumsnet is an internert forum with rules.
MNHQ can change the rules whenever they like.
You, the user, should use internet forums you are happy with, when you are no longer happy move on.
MNHQ aren't going to change things on the say so of a minute subset of posters.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/05/2012 15:33

The report this post button is about to become my best friend.

Any slight personal attack will be reported

Moira from Malory Towers est arrivé

ShirleyKnot · 29/05/2012 15:36

Yes, that's absolutely correct ItsAllGoingToBeFine.

It would be nice if a rule change, or a change in ETHOS were signalled to the users but if that's not going to happen and things DO change then I think it's fair enough to ask the question...

it's a bit like M&S changing their recipe for Macaroni Cheese and a "subset" of customers complaining about it. It is allowed you know. Smile

TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/05/2012 15:37

Can I add my DH to the petition?

I've actually had to spend evenings actually speaking to him and interrupting what shit he is watching

We are huge.

Rebecca you are doing very selective answering.

What about all the questions re the contradictory nature of the policy? ^^

OP posts:
TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/05/2012 15:43

I am actual quite huge all by myself :)

tethersend · 29/05/2012 15:47

To be pedantic, I called someone's point racist, not even the person themselves- even though they were. And yes, 'twas a mere simile.

"I am going to follow the guidelines To The Letter.

I expect we all are, aren't we?"

Well, I thought I already was.

Now I don't care. I will go rogue.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:48

But what about baby Tomoz? Will she go in a camoflage sling?

Hi CharminglyOdd,
We would be interested in seeing that mail if you still have it?
