hully that might not be a bad idea.

Assuming that MNHQ delete only when they recieve reports it is possible that there are only a small number of people reporting.

I am inferring from this thread that most of you are "prolific posters" and that most of you don't report personal attacks.

Maybe if you all started reporting anything breaking the guidelines then deletions would go up massively. Maybe then MNHQ might think they need to set their deletions bar higher, and delete less?

I was deleted a couple of months back for saying that some of the posters who claim to be compassionate were being cruellest.

apparently thats a personal attack.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:01

Quaite.

Most of us here don't report stuff, I believe, cos WE IS BIG BRAVE ADULTS

But hey, we can be kids running to teacher too.

OP posts:
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/05/2012 15:01

MyName it isn't racist, but could probably be construed as a personal attack.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:01

Oracle that is ludicrous.

Come on, MN, you must admit it's gorn mad.

I've been busy so only just catching up but just wanted to say...

Hello Sandy. Welcome to Mumsnet

ShirleyKnot · 29/05/2012 15:02

So if someone is being racist then it's a personal attack to say that they're being racist?

SuePBlovesaDiamondJubilee · 29/05/2012 15:02

Except Hully, we do need clarification on the goading thing. Because that's not getting deleted atm, reporting or no.

ItsAll MNHQ have just said they deleted it for being racist. And if telling someone their point/opinion is wrong is a personal attack then we're going to struggle to have discussions on here.

LtEveDallas · 29/05/2012 15:03

See I've just read a post on another thread I'm on and I think the poster is deliberatly goading another - sarcastically s-p-e-l-l-i-n-g out a couple of words. I'm now wondering if I should report the post.

However, when I did report a post that was detrimental to the Army, and made me feel like shit (and bloody angry) I was told it wouldn't be deleted, because it was merely someone else's view. But surely the post was goading?

I am wondering if the advertisers have asked MN to tone it down, which I would understand. But I don't understand how MN could say the 'rules' haven't changed, when it seems obvious they have??

OP posts:
TantrumsAndBalloons · 29/05/2012 15:04

So tethers post was racist and deleted but the thread asking why can't we use racist terminology to describe a persons ethnicity was ok?

Right I understand now

And the utter idiot that was literally changing her story every 3 seconds was ok but the people who called her on it were breaking guidelines?

So are we to assume a complete lack of common sense essential when posting now?
We must all agree with the racists, rape apologists, blatant storytellers in order to post?

Ok.

RebeccaMumsnet · 29/05/2012 15:04

@MyNameIsntFUCKINGWarren

How is it RACIST to infer that someone's point is like the KKK?

Do mnhq need to borrow my dictionary? It's here on my shelf next to my Bumper Book of Bollocks.

Apologies, badly worded on my part. It was removed as tethers was inferring that another poster was a racist, therefore it was a personal attack.

AbsofAwesomeness · 29/05/2012 15:04

"I told someone not to be a twat, the other day, and got deleted.

That wasn't a personal attack, it was heartfelt advice." QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Ah, now the list makes more sense.

I agree with the other posters, particularly about the veiled attacks on "prolific posters". I mean, that has been going on since the ark (it used to be all anti-Shiney stuff, then all Anti-Wolef stuff) but now it's just getting ridiculous. I even tried to start a thread about it in site stuff, but only two prolific posters responded.

tethersend · 29/05/2012 15:05

"Hi Tethers, we removed this post as it was reported for being racist.

We agreed, apologies if the inference was wrong but it read as fairly clear to us at the time and due to the subject matter of the thread."

Oh dear.

Did you read any of the thread it was on?

Did you read any of the points I made?

It was in response to a poster saying that words didn't matter, it was the intention behind them that made it racist. I suppose I should thank you for proving my point, but I am too busy being staggered that you inferred that that was a racist comment. It's nonsensical.

Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:05

The goading thing is a bit mad.

One person's "goading" is another's forthright inquiring.

OP posts:
Hullygully · 29/05/2012 15:06

And you inferred

but tethers insinuated or implied

Accuracy matters, people.

OP posts:
RebeccaMumsnet · 29/05/2012 15:06

@ShirleyKnot

So if someone is being racist then it's a personal attack to say that they're being racist?

yes, tell us and we will delete and have a word. There is no need to call someone racist on a thread. Ignore and report.

tethersend · 29/05/2012 15:06

"Apologies, badly worded on my part. It was removed as tethers was inferring that another poster was a racist, therefore it was a personal attack."

So to imply that another poster is racist (they were) on a thread about racism is against the guidelines? Confused

Tee2072 · 29/05/2012 15:08

"How is it RACIST to infer that someone's point is like the KKK?"

Because the KKK is racist?????
