Mumsnet is looking for a bright, organized and experienced press officer to come and work with our busy Communications team.

If you are (or you know) an experienced press officer, with a love of biscuits and all things newsy we'd love to hear from you.

The role will include responding to press enquiries, drafting press materials, planning media activity and occasionally dragging a comb through your hair and acting as a Mumsnet spokesperson.

The role is office-based, 3/4 days a week, salary £32 -36k pro-rata, dependent on experience.

I have a law degree. It's rather useful sometimes.

DialsMavis · 20/03/2012 13:59

I will have a psychology degree in a few weeks and have dealt with some media enquiries in my my work for a therapy website. I also have really nice hair. How about we say I will do it for 27k because of my lack of experience and I will bring the Biscuits?

VivaLeBeaver · 20/03/2012 14:05

I'll do it for 32k and I make amazing chocolate and pistachio biscotti.

MmeLindor. · 20/03/2012 14:07

Can you open a Scottish office so that I can apply?

You can pay me in M&S vouchers.

MmeLindor. · 20/03/2012 14:09

Oh, just noticed that Coffeemummy made the same suggestion. We could job share Smile

TheCunningStunt · 20/03/2012 14:11

NarkedPuffin · 20/03/2012 14:21

I like biscuits and occasionally drag a comb through my hair. Sometimes I even find pieces of biscuit.

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 14:25

I thought we had already established the new office would be in North Wales.

jenfraggle · 20/03/2012 16:36

Yes, come to Cornwall and we will bribe generously give you lots of cream teas and gin

OliviaLMumsnet · 20/03/2012 17:18

@DoodleAlley

Do you need an official procrastinator? I feel I could be your ideal candidate.

Tbh I'd probably work for just tea and biscuits.

I could send you my details....tomorrow...maybe Thursday...

You're alright Doodle, I've had that role wrapped up since, well, since I got here. Grin

janx · 20/03/2012 17:31

Do you need an events manager?... I live in north London so could to HQ double quick

janx · 20/03/2012 17:31

I could get to Blush

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 17:32

It's the pressure of wanting to impress that means the spelling suffers, isn't it janx?

Pascha · 20/03/2012 17:37

Where within MNHQ is the Press Officer Position then? Is it in a shed like tech? Or do they have a posh lectern at the front, a la CJ Cregg?

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 17:42
DoodleAlley · 20/03/2012 17:46

OliviaLMumsnet... drat. Never mind, worth a try.

WipsGlitter · 20/03/2012 17:51

See, I think all us regional people have the right idea. Mumsnet could increase their local presence, improve the mumsnet local boards and get more advertising income.

Bagsy me Northern Ireland.

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 17:55

I like the way you think Wips

There would, of course, have to be bi-monthly meetings, perhaps hosted by each region in turn.

Re: advertising income, there are lots of little mother and baby shops and clothing shops in this area that would love to advertise on a site like this, especially if it was a local affair as well as a hooge website like MN currently is.

VeniVidiVisa · 20/03/2012 18:03

I would definitely have applied except I'm not sure I could get a comb through my hair.

NorfolkNChance · 20/03/2012 18:23

IF the MN brand is going to be franchised out locally I'm 'aving me the East Angular branch.
