The role will include responding to press enquiries, drafting press materials, planning media activity and occasionally dragging a comb through your hair and acting as a Mumsnet spokesperson.

The role is office-based, 3/4 days a week, salary £32 -36k pro-rata, dependent on experience.

For more info. email [email protected]

I think it'd be great to have a mn official doctor! Open a new position for that :-)

Cheeseandbiscuits · 20/03/2012 11:30

Grin yes let's swap katiemumsnet. I will even lend you my stethoscope. I'd love to visit MN towers!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 20/03/2012 11:31

wannabestressfree · 20/03/2012 11:32

VivaLeBeaver · 20/03/2012 11:46

I know an experienced press officer type person, her names nadine. Will send her an email! Grin

DoodleAlley · 20/03/2012 11:53

Do you need an official procrastinator? I feel I could be your ideal candidate.

Tbh I'd probably work for just tea and biscuits.

I could send you my details....tomorrow...maybe Thursday...

Frontpaw · 20/03/2012 12:07

Why don't you get a nice new marketing manager? I make very nice cakes....

loadofwaffle · 20/03/2012 12:08

Hmmmm more 'press' than 'press officer' but thinking it may be time for a change considering whole industry is spiralling into meltdown anyway. Also can both bake and consume afore-mentioned biscuits. Other transferable skills? Er... know all my Disney princesses and can invent up to 20 verses of Old Macdonald and his global safari park experience. Yep. Definitely time to get back to work!

Stratters · 20/03/2012 12:09

I would be useless. :(

But I will donate my [hardhat]

Frontpaw · 20/03/2012 12:12

Oh hang on, it said 'bright'...

I am good with media types (reader, I married him). No, I am not Nadine.

PurplePidjin · 20/03/2012 12:17

I'm all those things apart from experienced Grin

Would you consider a trainee? I'm good in a crisis and my communication skills are awesome as are my wine bottle opening skills Wink

Frontpaw · 20/03/2012 12:26

I am good at yelling at people. I can make grown men cry with one look.

KatieMumsnet · 20/03/2012 12:44

Lots of press people making the move over to press office - so why not apply? Writing will be a key part of the role - so that bit is very relevant.

Ok now you really have tempted me Katie but I'm not sure the commute is doable Sad

LadyWellian · 20/03/2012 12:51

KatieMN your timing is a bit off. I just started my new press officer job yesterday and unfortunately I think I really ought to try to make a go of it.

Honeydragon · 20/03/2012 12:52

I'd like to complain that you are being speciesist. It should be open to males and females otherwise you have ruled out dragons and zombies and Chickens with no lips or eyebrows, and puffins (narked or otherwise) not to mention a vast swathe of bears.

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 12:52

I really would be fantastic at it... honest. I am a qualified teacher working as a receptionist in North Wales- and i drag a comb through my hair every day in North Wales

Go ooooon MN, I would be a fabullous candidate if you opened an office in North Wales Grin

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 12:53

fabulous.

I can also spell. Honest. A* in English Literature and English Language GCSE, B in English Literature A Level

KatieMumsnet · 20/03/2012 13:12

I can't spell and have never told Justine what I got in GCSE English!

I also know lots of swear words and many many insults.

LadySybilDeChocolate · 20/03/2012 13:31

I can write, haven't done anything like this for years though. Are there relocation expenses? I could travel if you don't mind me being a little late. Smile

ohyouBadBadkitten · 20/03/2012 13:31

Just let me know when you need a weather lady.

TwllBach · 20/03/2012 13:32

In all seriousness, I really do think MN should have an office in North Wales. It could be used as a holiday destination as well! I have seen plenty of Welsh mumsnetters on the boards, we even have a Welsh language chat thread.

I am happy to relinquish the position of Press Officer in London for a n easier job in the new office - I am available for full time hours, including evenings and the odd weekend, and am not even nearly bilingual.

VivaLeBeaver · 20/03/2012 13:40

I'm all of it apart from experienced. However I'm good at writing and have done some free lance journalism for mainly The Daily Mail, The Mirror and The Sunday Telegraph. I also know one end of a stethoscope from the other and could talk medical stuff to impress Katie.

I could pack in midwifeing and commute!
