Will MNHQ consider installing a 'Hide Poster' function?

This has been raised a couple of times, just wondering if MNHQ had any plans to make this an option.

Would be nice to hide the couple of Mners who genuinely get me riled up.

It's Reality isn't it? And Pag and Sue and Shirl and Jenai and Sarah and Af and Mary and Buppers.

Cunts the lot of them you said.

Maryz, then you'd probably choose not to use it, or you'd see the comments quoted elsewhere and take them off ignore. I don't use it, I prefer to skim, ignore or tackle, I just don't see why that means it shouldn't be available to those who wish to use it.

Hullygully · 02/01/2012 22:51

I thought moo point was a ref to m-tmoo.

I'm there, look, I'm the H

Sevenfold · 02/01/2012 22:51

wannabe is so right, having had the well hide the thread used in the past. even when someone has been really out of order, imagine the stuff that would be left.
it is all very well to talk about self moderation but there are somethings that just go to far.

Get0rf · 02/01/2012 22:52

HNY Len! Shake your booty for the End of Days.

Hullygully · 02/01/2012 22:54

Oh yeah, Gerrof said you were a cunt too

MaryZed · 02/01/2012 22:54

But if it is a self-moderating site, then we have to take the responsibility of, well, self-moderating.

Which means keeping a lookout for really offensive posters, and reporting them, and making sure they don't take over.

If sensible people hide them and the posts stand, then we are no longer self-moderating and would need more robust moderation from those in charge, which I would be very much against.

Get0rf · 02/01/2012 22:55

Hully!

Stop it yoy know what this place is like, people will belieeeeeeve you.

I don't like the idea. I think it would just end up in some hideous bitch-fest where nothing made sense.

And I have to say that having MNed for what feels like most of my adult life, there have only ever been two people that I'm a bit wary of (as in their dislike is apparent). Even then, not wary enough to warrant never seeing what they have to say again. And the muppets, the belligerents, the iffy ones - I ignore them easily enough without the need of a button. I provide my own filter.

Good point Mary Doll. I think we should have an explode button where where some cunt posts bollocks you can press it and a big explosion covers their post.

Hullygully · 02/01/2012 22:56

Well I won't ask then but I send you love and Op vibes dearest.

Get0rf · 02/01/2012 22:57

Mary's last post has just made my whole request for a hide poster function argument disappear in Lenin's puff of smoke.

MNHQ I will never darken your doors again

LoremIpsum · 02/01/2012 22:57

The few times I've reported things, I've had an email back saying they prefer to let things stay when possible to let other posters tackle it on the thread. Not that different to being told to ignore, really. Personal attacks tend to be deleted, sexism not so often, disablism too.

scottishmummy · 02/01/2012 22:57

paradoxically it would end up a mn badge of honour and talking point
or just fuel the yew can't handle the truth/straight talk so you hide me,types
we'd have folk preening and bragging to see if on a hide list

perceptionreality · 02/01/2012 22:58

A very bad idea indeed.

Plus, I have found that someone who has annoyed or even upset me on one thread seems very reasonable on another....

It's not conducive to debate.

CatPussRoastingByAnOpenFire · 02/01/2012 22:58

The thing is, I might hate a posters guts on one thread, want to marry them on another, and PMSL at them somewhere else! Hiding people takes out all the fun!

Get0rf · 02/01/2012 22:58

Mary Doll? Are you a spiv character from a 50s film?
