AwayinaKayzr · 21/12/2011 22:03

Wow Northern is one of the posters I recognise most on MN.

scottishmummy · 21/12/2011 22:05

gosh don't add who is or isn't a name to the mix

WinterWonderlandIsComing · 21/12/2011 22:06

Apart from finding cuntish infamy on Wiki sm?

Well I suppose that the 1000 post limit does much the same thing because rarely does a contentious thread carry on past it Grin

BTW JJ, we know that you are not Jj. Or Jajas Smile

I used the lock when things were getting out of control. Temporarily usually, until people had calmed down and the cold light of day had done its work. It was easier than having to warn / ban multiple decent posters or delete the entire thread if I was the only mod around.

In fact, it was encouraged that a lock in doubt would be preferable to binning one because it was a VERY SERIOUS matter to do that and would usually involve a very long conversation in the hidden forums as to whether it was necessary.

There was also a thread-separate / merge facility. So with controversial issues, for example, Jj's posts on her MC thread could be transferred to a new one on a different board and subsequent questioning ones picked off and moved to say, this one. So that everything was on-topic and in place.

Yes it was run mainly by men and no I don't post or moderate any more. Not sure if it could work here just offering ideas.

Akiram · 21/12/2011 22:06

All this talking of whether a poster is a well known name or not does not add anything. We all have names we recognise more than others. I have been on MN for over 4 years but only registered for 2 years, plus I name change regularly, it doesn't mean anything.

Thanks

If anyone is searching for the backstory it won't make sense if you search me.

I'm back! It's the first time I flounced and obviously I am not very good at it.

I know NL and that's because I was once accused of being NL's henchman or henchwoman and I didn't even know NL that well other than she is a MN regular... I was flabbergasted as I don't post that much (though I lurk a lot!).

And back to minced pies, I have Heston's puffed pastry minced pies with cane sugar, who wants one? :)
