Yuleing - I think the very fact that there have been so many threads about this shows that MN needs to make some sort of stance.
I like angels idea of No cash donations, as that is precisely what started the bunfight last night.
I'm sure if it was a case of "here have this tesco shop to tide you over" no-one would have thought anything of it.

Givining isnt bad, but there was no coordinations and control.
I always thought if some one needs help with food/bills/money we should help them until they get some mone in i.e benefits and thats how crisis loan works.

I genuinely think that the deletion of subsequent threads was a bad move. thats how myths grow and there will always be a question over what happened.

I once was in a very strange situation - I got a PM from someone (who I didn't recognise) with a link to a thread where someone had no money and no food. The MNer who PMed me said on the thread that I lived in the same city, and perhaps I would be able to to buy a tenner's worth of essentials and deliver it to the skint MNer who lived about a mile or so away (in a rough area). I was completely and utterly at the whole thing, and thought that it was a dodgy thing to do. I said I couldn't do it, but was very annoyed with the MNer who PMd me, and thought that there was some scam afoot.

My fault I suppose by being open about which city I live in, but just goes to show that people blatantly do try it on.

What is it about Christmas anyway? Since I joined in 2006 there's been a Xmas row.

I do really like the poster in question. We were on the June 2012 thread. TBH if I had seen that she was struggling with money I would have sent her some as I did with TheWiltedRose.

But maybe there needs to be something in place. But what exactly and how is it managed?

Nothing anyone at MNHQ does will be able to stop posters giving money to people who say they are struggling.
