DBF BANNING THREAD: 3

are we allowed to carry on discussing this?

I joined the night it was set up, feeling all flouncy over DBF's treatment, but I haven't posted. Last I looked, it's perfectly lovely like any casual chat thread. I haven't noticed mumsnet-bashing, just grumbling about HQ, but no worse than on here. Nothing obsessive about it.

TheRhubarb · 11/11/2011 12:25

Well not counting an entire thread about Justine's reponse to DBF then? Wink

But that's not really my point, it's not up to me to care who says what about Mumsnet. I just don't get why Mumsnet is so important to some people? Obviously when I say important, I mean by way of affecting their lives so they need to hang onto their Mumsnet identities and not in a way "Mumsnet saved my baby" kind of way.

LeBOF · 11/11/2011 12:30

Oh come off it, you've banged on about it on your blog too: people do, if they feel aggrieved. Then after a day or two they get over it. Nothing unusual or obsessive about it.

MsBrian · 11/11/2011 12:30

What was the book Pinot

Pinot · 11/11/2011 12:32

It was The Postmistress by Sarah Blake. WW2 story and just so beautifully written. One of those where you read it slowly as she's made every word count. Could. Not. Recommend. More.

Though, my advice - don't finish it on Armistice Day having just got choked up at the 2 minute silence.

TheRhubarb · 11/11/2011 12:33

Again, you are not getting my point. This is not about the banning issue but rather why people choose to set up or join forums using their MN names and almost trying to create another Mumsnet but under their own rules.

I'm off subject now LeBOF and discussing the psychology of it in general and not this one issue.

LeBOF · 11/11/2011 12:38

Maybe I'm too tired to think properly today- late night.

TheRhubarb · 11/11/2011 12:41

No worries Smile

I think this issue has been debated to death now and perhaps if I want to question for need for forums similar to Mumsnet where ex-mumsnetters can re-create Mumsnet, then I need to start a different thread. Or maybe I'll just ponder away to myself. That's probably the better option!

SoupDragon · 11/11/2011 12:43

I know what you mean, Rhubarb. Its why I couldn't be arsed with the whole Mouldies thing.

Pinot · 11/11/2011 12:46

This is the book I know, I know, not relevant - but so good!

GrimmaTheNome · 11/11/2011 13:30

Rhubarb - or you could start a whole new forum to discuss it. Grin

Hullygully · 11/11/2011 13:37

I've started a forum to discuss people discussing forums that is a lie

If Hully did start one she'd probably find she had to delete it after about 5 minutes.
